Chapter 3

It was almost the final bell so everyone could go to their happy homes, except for Eddie having his crazy mother and Beverly, her abusive father. At least the Losers had each other and met up after school. They still felt reluctnant and eager to tell Lilly about the murders that have happened in Derry as they knew how and why they were happening, but no one, especially adults would believe them. The teacher came to Lilly's desk before the final bell.

"Lilly, your family says they want you to stop by the market and bring home some milk on your way home today." the teacher said with a gentle smile.

"Um, ok miss, thank you" she says with a nod. "Welcome, dear." the teacher walked back to her desk as the students were itching for the clock to strike 3:00 and release them home

She frowned internally, she never had been asked to bring home milk before. She then looked slightly puzzled until the bell rang. She went and went to her nearest new friend. "I have to stop by home to get some milk, I'll come straight after I've dropped the milk off, is that ok?" she asks.

"I'm sure that'll be fine with Billy," Beverly replied. "Come behind the forest and you'll see us there, we'll meet you there when you do your errand." she offered a friendly smile. She then turned back and told the boys that Lilly would be a little late to join them today after school. The bell then finally rang and the students happily and cheerfully ran outside the classroom, eager to get home.

Lilly waved to her friends and headed to the store. Luckily it was on her way home. So she wouldn't get lost. She brought the milk with her small amount of emergency money. This she had saved from every cent she was given. She didn't mind spending a little on some milk though. After paying she left the shop the milk in her backpack.

"Thank you, have a good day." the cashier told her and waved her off as she was on her way to home and then to hang out with her new friends.

Lilly's family car was in the garage as she was on her way home.

"Hey kid.... Want a balloon?" a frightening voice called to the new girl in town.

Scared from the sudden frightening voice Lilly ran home, not daring to look at who it was. She put her backpack with the milk in, in her hallway. "Going to meet a few friends mom, I'll be back in time for tea!" she calls, knowing her mother would be more excited about her having new friends than to stop her from going out.

She heard her mom's distant "ok!" before she got out of the house again and started off towards the forest.

"Come on, everyone wants a balloon, Lillian..." the voice from before grew closer and there was a clown right there, smiling at the new girl. "They all float!" he laughed wildly and wouldn't leave her alone.

"G-go away!" she tells the clown, she was scared of clowns but that wasn't her worst fear. She hated this one a bit more as his eyes were red and he was like the stupid McDonald's clown. "And I don't want a balloon..." she tells him.

"Come on, a new kid in town like you deserves a balloon!" the clown came closer and his balloon popped and it had dozens of scorpians flew out and chased her. He then laughed wickedly as she screamed and ran to the forest as quickly as she could.

Lilly ran screaming, she didn't stop only fully stopping when somebody stopped her running. She struggled a little until she realised the voice was someone her age, and she could tell it was one of the friends she had made. She opened her tearfilled eyes to see who it was.

"Lilly? Lilly! Lilly, are you okay?" Eddie asked, sounding a little protective and worried about her. "You look like you've seen a ghost."

Lilly gave a small sob. "A weird c-lown came and when the balloon popped all these sc-scorpions started to ch-chase me," she tells him her voice hitching at parts from her fear and her crying.
