Chapter 9

"I'm sure I'll be fine." Mike assured them with a smile.  He chuckled lighgtly at Richie's joke. "Can't be worse than the school cafeteria food 30 years ago."

 They all laughed.

Bill grew determined. He had wanted to rid himself of IT ever since Georgie was murdered.

"Mike Hanlon?" a nurse called, wheeling a chair over.

Mike bobbed his head, then weakly stood up and slumped into the chair. He assured his friends he would be just fine as he was wheeled off and taken to a room over night.

Then Lilly offered Ben his keys back. "Let's go and beat this thing," she says. She was tired of this and tired of this fear.

Ben took the keys and then lead everyone to the car to go to the sewers.

Richie sighed and followed, reluctant to face one of the fears from his past.

Beverly huddled closely against Ben for protection seeing that Lilly was busy with Bill and Richie seemed too cowardly. This was their time to shine, hopefully it would go alright. They all tried to put their fears aside as they went to beneath the sewers where Bill knew for sure where IT was located, after all, Georgie was killed down there.

The group went closer and Bill jumped in front of them. "Come on guys, let's split up." he suggested, which made everyone look horrified at that idea. Why on Earth would he suggest THAT of all tactics when going against such a traumatizing force of nature?

Ben hugged Beverly to him. "What?" he asks Bill.

Richie looked at bill like he was crazy. "Why would you suggest that?!" he asks in fear.

Lilly gripped Bill's hand tighter. "We all need to face this thing together," she says and took a deep breath. She then shivered as she felt a sudden feeling of dread.

Bill shrugged sheepishly. He then smiled at Lilly's advice and walked through. He had to admit, he was scared too, but tried to remain brave, after all, IT liked to feast on fear. Bill kept walking along, then he noticed a bag. Raising an eyebrow in curiosity, Bill stepped toward it and picked it up, wondering why and it was there. He remembered that Audra had that bag when she was filming a movie adaption on one of his novels.

"Sicko." Beverly murmured. "He's been writing horror novels too much."

Ben couldn't help but chuckle. He handed Beverley the slingshot and the silver shots.

Richie was at the back of the group. But he followed.

Beverly nodded at him, smiling as she took the weaponry. "Come on, Richie!" she called in a hushed, but direct tone toward him to make him follow and face their fears dead on.

Lilly had lead Bill to the center, where they had first confronted IT. She was worried to why Audra's bag was there. She then blinked as a paper boat came floating towards them.

Bill then glanced at the paper boat. It brought back horrific memories. "T-T-That's G-G-Georgie's b-b-b-boat.." his stutter returned as he had traumatic flashbacks and memories of Georgie when he would play in the rain and chase that boat down the sewer. Bill didn't witness the attack, but he could imagine how it might have happened.

Lilly hugged Bill. "Baby, it's not your fault, and that's not Georgie" she says softly.

 Ben agreed with Lilly.

 As did Richie.

"Georgie...." Bill said softly as he saw what looked like his younger brother in his rain coat, only Georgie didn't appear to have his arms.

"It's not real, it's just your imagination." Beverly tried to help out, if they blocked out IT, IT would go away and leave them alone hopefully.

"It's not Georgie..." Bill shook his head, squeezing his eyes shut, repeating his trance.

When they managed to convince Bill it wasn't Georgie they then saw Georgie's image disappear, but Pennywise came before them, startling all of them, but mostly Lilly due to her clourophobia.  They heard IT's voice telling them to escape while they still could. They didn't know that IT was even madder at them now, and Lilly had frozen as IT's image had appeared.

"You should get out while you still can!" IT says cackling before it disappeared. Though the laughter remained.

Lilly whimpered slightly and clung to Bill.

Ben hugged Beverly and patted Lilly's shoulder.

 Richie shuddered.

"It isn't real, it isn't real." Bill repeated, trying to calm his nervousness.

Suddenly wolf man like hands came up behind Richie. It reminded him of when they all saw that werewolf movie and he was the most scared from it out of all of them.

"Richie, it isn't real." Bill coaxed his friend.

"It isn't real..." Beverly whispered, in a calm, gentle voice.

Richie had yelled from fear, but hearing his friends' words calmed down. "Y-you're right" he gulps. He then became angry that IT had once again used that trick on him.

Ben looked at Bill, "we need to find where IT truly is, we need to beat this thing" he says.

Lilly had patted Richie's back as they soothed him. She looked at Eddie her 'brother' "are you ok too Eddie?" she asks softly.

They ended up following the direction of the boat that was placed back on the water.

Eddie wheezed a bit, but settled himself, giving a thumbs up. "I'm okay." he smiled at her like she were his own sister.

"This stops now." Bill demanded, then walked with the others as the boat was floating to a tunnel. Presumbally where IT was hiding and about to strike them. Unfortunately now they would see the true form and not the forced form of Pennywise which would make any circus flee in terror.
