It's been almost a week since Akutagawa's sister came to our school and since then, I have not seen Akutagawa anywhere. I was wondering where he was, but I felt like I shouldn't worry about him. It felt wrong, to be honest - every time he came back to school after a long time of absence, he had new bruises somewhere on his body or a fresh cut on his face. It made me think - what if he is in a gang or something? Or maybe he's bullied again and he can't defend himself because of what happened a year ago?
The possibilities were endless, yet no real answer. I could only imagine what was happening to him.
On one day when I came home from school my mum greeted me as soon as I opened the door.
'Hello honey, how are you? How was school? Did you get any good-' she attacked me with questions. I could tell she was overly excited - her eyes were all lit up like a christmas tree and she had a way too big grin plastered on her face. Something was going on...
'Is everything okay?' I asked as I took off my shoes. My mum was already in the kitchen, heating up my dinner.
'Why wouldn't it be?' she laughed and fixed her black glasses. Okay, now I knew for sure something was wrong - mum only fixes her glasses when she's nervous, it's kind of a habit that I found out about throughout the years of living with her.
'Just tell me, you know I see when you're nervous' I said and sat by the kitchen table. Mum gave me a shy smile that then turned into a huge grin.
'I am going on a date!' she clapped her hands. My jaw dropped and eyes widened as she laughed at my reaction.
'Oh my god, that's great mum!' I said and stood up to hug her. My mum hasn't been on a date in forever and I was really happy for her.
'Who's the lucky guy?' I gave her a smirk.
'Oh, no one really. He's my co-worker and I noticed a long time ago he had a thing for me, but I was still in a relationship with your dad, so I couldn't do anything. But now I am a free, independent woman and can do whatever my soul desires." she exclaimed and took a sip of her coffee.
'On a scale of 1 to 10?' I asked her. She thought for a couple of seconds before giving me an answer.
'A solid 7.' she said. I raised my eyebrows and whispered 'not bad' before we both laughed.
'Knock him out with your beauty' I said as I was walking to my room.
'That's the plan, sweetie.' she smirked and laughed again.

Mum left for the date at 7 pm, leaving me alone with my own thoughts ever since. Of course, the only thing I had on my mind was no one else than Akutagawa Ryunosuke. I swear, this guy has been harassing my head for the last couple of days, maybe even weeks. His whole persona was something very intriguing and worth thinking, I guess? I mean, who wouldn't be interested in what he does every day that the wounds are the consequences of his actions? Before I even noticed it was nearly 10 pm. I was wondering where my mum was, but I guess she was staying the night at her date's house. I just hope it doesn't end in a younger sibling, if you know what I mean.
