Princess Charming
It always starts with a ‘Once upon a time’
But in my book, that phrase is but a big crime
Fantasies, myths and stories that rhyme
Fairytales that inspire an innocent girl’s mind.
The handsome prince looks for a wonderful girl to meet
And when he does, he’ll slip the glass slipper unto her feet
Then they fall in love—it always goes that way
Don’t you think it’s already a bit too cliché?
Now let’s hear my side of the story
Let’s put down the book and take a glance at reality
Once in a nearby town there lived a princess
She wore regular clothes, not some fancy new dress.
She lived up a tall tower, feeling lonely and sober
A dragon was guarding outside, with scales like armour
She didn’t lie on her bed and wait for a kiss
She got up on her own and she did this:
She opened her wardrobe and wore her own shining armour
She wielded her own sword and slayed the dragon with glamour
She saved herself, she set herself free
She never waited for somebody
They say good things come to those who wait
That’s why the girls in fairy-tales enjoy their wonderful fate
But not everybody’s story is a fairy-tale
Anybody’s life can be an quite an epic fail.
They fail if they wait and do nothing today
They fail if they do nothing and just pray
Good things come to those who wait
But the best things come to those who open their gates.
Daydreamer, wake up from your fantasy
Open your eyes and I shall welcome you to reality
You can sleep around and dream all you want
But if you want the dream to come true then try to be more blunt.
Get off your bed, wipe off that drool
Go chase your dreams and don’t be a fool
You are your own saviour, you’re not a tool
You’re a true princess, and you’re ready to rule.
