The Forest

Strolling inside the deep dark forest

Inside the earth’s giant nest

I search for that sweet, faint fragrance

Of the lingering traces of the days you held my hands

I suddenly hear your voice, your laugh

Might you be a mirage turned to ash?

I reach out to try to touch you

But your image fluttered fleetingly into the blue.

I’ve missed you for so long

My longing for you was too strong

Wandering through sleepless nights

The tears won’t stop falling, nothing is right.

Enveloped within the light and shadow

That you left behind in this cold snow

Inside the deep dark forest

In the earth’s giant nest.
