“ you built me palaces out of paragraphs “ | CH. SEVEN

---"potions had me beat!" Dorcas sighed, stretching her arms up as they exited the room.

"It wasn't that hard," Asteria sighed next to her.

"Easy for you to say," Dorcas groaned, "you're partnered with Lily Evans!"

"I would've been partnered up with you if you hadn't paired up with Remus."  Asteria shot back.

"Oh, please, he isn't even here right now. I had to do the bloody potion all by myself!" She huffed, pouting her lips as she crossed her arms. "By the way, we're having Astronomy today right?"

"It says here that we do," Asteria said looking at her timetable. "Ugh I suck at Astronomy," she added as they turn to the entrance of the Great Hall.

The smell of chicken and gravy greeting them by the door along with the cool cozy atmosphere that signified that Christmas was coming by fast. The walls were decorated with green mistletoe and snow with a huge Christmas tree stationed next to the teachers' table. The roof was throwing up snow while each table of the four houses all had snowflakes hanged on both sides.

"Now this," Dorcas said, gesturing to the room, "looks like home." She smiled before dragging Asteria behind her.

The pair sat down in front of two other Gryffindor girls, Marlene McKinnon and Lily Evans. The four talked to each other happily, enjoying each others' company whilst eating their lunch.

"Merlin I'm so pumped for NEWTs this year!" Lily exclaimed, making the three girls roll their eyes at her.

"There she goes again," Marlene groaned as she ate a piece of chicken.

"It's not my fault," Lily scoffed. She turned her eyes to the owls flying past her as she grinned, her owl going down beside her as she took the envelope from it.

Asteria also received one, she happily gave the owl some bread before she sent it off. It was a letter from her best friend, Louis. She smiled because she hasn't talked to him for a while. She quickly opened it too excited to see what he's been up to lately.

Hey dork!

It started, making Asteria chuckle at the boy.

It's me! Your favorite person in the world! Yeyyyy! I just wrote this to you to say Merry Christmas! Or should I say, 'Happy Christmas'? As what the Brits would say (even though I am one). It may seem early but hey, atleast I'm the first to say (or write) it to you, right?

Also, I have a surprise for you! Drum roll please...

I'M COMING TO ENGLAND! Yayyyy!

I'm also bringing someone very dear to me as well, a new friend. But don't worry, no one will ever replace you. So don't feel down. I think the two of you will get along very well.

Your Awesome Friend,
Louis the Great

Asteria smiled widely at the letter. This enticed the three other girls at the piece of paper. Dorcas was the first to smirk as she peeped through Asteria's shoulder.

"Ohhhh, who's Louis?" She asked.

"Just my friend back home," Asteria shrugged.

"Just a friend?" Marlene smirked, cocking an eyebrow at her.

Asteria rolled her eyes at their immaturity, "oh bug off!" She groaned. "Besides me and Louis have been with each other since we were little."

"Someone's bound to have a crush on the other, right?" Lily pressed on.

"Well, yeah. . ." Asteria sighed, "I did."

---that night, Asteria dreamt about something strange. The air felt heavier than usual and the sky was dark, signalling it was already night time. She looked down to see she was wearing a white dress that fell just above her knee. Her feet were bare as she felt the dried leaves and twigs crunch beneath her toes.

Suddenly, she heard a loud howl coming from the distance. Her head snapped up to see it was none other than the full moon. Her mind began to whirr as she realised what made the sound, a werewolf.

A low growl was emitting next to her. Asteria shakily turned to the bushes to see a pair of glowing brown eyes staring back at her.

"Miss Williams!" Asteria suddenly jolt up from her desk to be face to face with her Astronomy teacher, Professor Schuyler. "I do not tolerate laziness in this class, five points from Gryffindor will be taken." She scolded, turning her back from the girl before continuing. "As I was saying, the full moon. . ."
