Chapter 16: Confessions (Part 1)

[Preston's POV]

"H-Hi Rob..." I said, my voice raspy and quiet.

"It's really you, Preston?...." Rob asked me, tilting his head. I nod, my throat feeling as if it's on fire.

"Is your voice okay?..."

"I-I don't k-know..." I said. "I-I should explain s-some things...."

"F-First off... Y-Yeah I'm a fox hybrid, I-I just never told anyone. S-Secondly, every time I switch to my half fox f-form or full fox f-form, my throat always ends up f-feeling like it's on f-fire, h-hence why my voice s-sounds like it's dying." I explained, the pain in my throat growing steadily the more I talked.

"Shh.... don't talk... I don't want you to loose your voice." Rob said. I simply nodded.

"Thanks for saving me back there by the way. I don't think I'd be alive if it wasn't for you." Rob smiled at me, causing me to smile back.

"S-So... y-you're the Alpha, a-and that wolf was your dad?...." I ask, coughing slightly.

Rob nods. "Yeah. My mom was a hybrid, and my dad was a wolf. H-He hates me and blames me for killing her.... even though he's the one who killed her...." His head lowers, and his eyes are glossy from tears. I nuzzle his face.

Rob smiles slightly, nuzzling me back. I can feel my face heat up.

"C-Can I go s-see the others?....." I ask.

"Yeah, we can surprise Jerome, Kenny, and Choco! Follow me." Rob says, turning around and walking towards his territory. I padded behind him.

[Still Preston's POV]

We had lead Jerome, Kenny, and Choco over to the tree that served as Rob's mother's grave. We all sat down.

"So, it's really you, Preston?" Kenny asks.

"Y-Yep." I say.

"Woah, well this certainly was unexpected." Choco says.

"Well, I think it's pretty cool!" Jerome said, everyone else agreeing with him.

"T-thanks guys...." I said.

We all talked and had a good time.

For once, I felt as ease with my fox side.

......It was nice.
