Guy | Girl

She peered over his shoulder at the phone screen where he was watching reruns of his soccer games. "Wow, you kick like a girl."

He tried hard not to look offended, settling on glaring at her instead. "Excuse me?"

"I said it. You kick like a girl."

He snapped at her, anger quickly rising up before he could stamp down on it. "What brought on this sudden influx of insults dare I ask?"

She was well aware he probably thought she was a bitch for the words she had just said. Yet she shrugged, not a hair on her head was ruffled. "Why do you take it as an insult? I never meant for it to be. If I said you kick like Mia Hamm, would you have been insulted?"

Well, no. But it's not the same.

"You see," She snapped her fingers, "Why do we make acting like a girl into an insult? Why do we generalize a whole gender of people? Since when is being a girl a bad thing?"

"You set me up." His eyes narrowed. "Again."

"Well? Stop being a pussy."

"Stop being a bitch."

"Bitch, sissy, pussy, all feminine words with a negative connotation. I'm sorry," She said, "I shouldn't have insulted you. Let's blame it on the patriarchy, yeah? For making these words insults in the first place.
