Chapter 1

Salus had just joined the Rebels. His family was killed by the empire because they didn't want to live under dark rule. He decided that the time to stay in the Shadow of the Empire had been over and it was time to fight. He was assigned to the ship The Golden Blood. He began to think, Really hope this was a good idea, well, only time will tell. As the transport docked with the ship he began feeling a sense of nervousness and anxiety, it made him feel sick. When the ramp lowered he stepped out and saw dozens of Rebel crewmen working to maintain Fighters and the ship as well as do checks on weapons and supplies. The intercom came on and he heard a voice "Will Ensign Salus please report to the Bridge, I repeat, Ensign Salus please report to the bridge." He wondered what it was he had done to get the attention of the commander. Salus knew exactly who Commander Lyla Keller was, she was one of the most Tactical Geniuses in The Rebellion. She was outnumbered and outgunned 2:1 but managed to take out her enemy with minimal casualties and maximum effectiveness. He would be glad to serve under her command. As Salus boarded the bridge, he saw many Officers performing many tasks that he couldn't begin to understand. As he saw the commander he snapped to a salute. "At ease Soldier," she said "I have heard of your skill and how you are an excellent pilot and soldier, because of this, and because there are very few like you, I've decided to give you command of a squad of a X-Wing, 2 A-wings and 2 Y-Wings." Command of an entire squad ?!!?? he thought, "Yes Ma'am, thank you" he dropped his salute and took a second to take in what happened. "And from now on, your squad will respond to me, I have a feeling you and your men will be a special bunch and that can be trusted. Dismissed." He saluted then continued off the bridge back to the hanger, thinking about what just happened, he then decided that the commander trusted him and that he needed to trust her, and his men.
