I do not own the underlined passages, it's from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. That being said, I do not own Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.
Underlined - Quotes from the book
The students arrived a few days before the break ended and Harry was surprised to see a package on top of his bed.
It was slightly wide and didn't seem to be very large. When he looked at the note there was no name so he couldn't send a thank-you letter to them.
He looked inside to see a silvery material and noted that when he tried it on and looked in the mirror, he had disappeared.
He debated with himself for a bit, wondering if he should get it checked by a teacher before looking through his own books.
Finding the right spells, he casted them over the invisibility cloak and noted that there was no tampering or dangerous spells on it.
Feeling foolish for not having done it before he tried it on, he then casted the same spells on himself and let out a breath when there was nothing on him.
He closed his eyes and just felt the cloak for a bit, feeling the attachment it gave him to his father and maybe even his mother too if she ever used it.
He thought about what he was going to do with it, and the Jackson in him decided that it wouldn't hurt to explore after curfew just a bit before classes started.
So that night, after explaining to Neville what he had in mind (Neville being Neville was worried and asked Harry to at least arrive before 2 AM, if he wasn't he would get their Head of House just in case).
Harry then slipped out of the room and started to explore the castle, making sure to stay away from Finch from Hogwarts insistence. Because no matter what, the man did have a job to do which meant catching any students after curfew.
With the guide of Hogwarts, Harry explored the castle slowly. Though, he paused at one door and felt Hogwarts uncertainty.
Making up his mind before she could direct him somewhere else, he entered the room and only spotted a mirror right in the center.
Hesitantly, he casted the spells he used on his cloak and for checking himself and found that there was a slight compulsion charm and many spells that were still being developed but weren't complete.
Nodding slightly and trying to be careful of the compulsion spell, Harry looked above the mirror at the inscription at the top.
Erised stra ehru oyt ube cafru oyt on wohsi (-Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone Page 207)
Harry carefully thought the inscription over and found that if you read it from right to left it made much more sense, like a mirror, the inscription actually said: I show not your face but your heart's desire.
Carefully, with the message in his head and knowing he won't actually see anything real. Harry looked at the mirror and felt his heart spike and felt sadden.
"Of course," he whispered softly to himself. His eyes were sadden but shown with love as he saw his dad, and next to him were his birth parents. All were smiling and waving at him as he stood next to them with Helen and himself in front.
All their Pegasus were behind them seeming playfully mess with his father and dad's hair before taking off in some sort of game.
Letting out a loose breath. He closed his eyes and ingrained the image inside his head while his hand rested against the mirror.
"I show not your face but your hearts desire," he muttered to himself before watching the mirror slowly become his reflection.
"I will always love you, and you will always be in my heart. But I know it cannot be, goodbye mom, dad. Till we met again in the afterlife," Harry whispered to the mirror before shaking off the feeling of wanting to stare into the mirror again.
