(6 months later)
I heard the quiet of my alarm clock as it goes off. I take a deep breath in and turn it off. I push myself to the edge of the bed and stretch. I feel Mark stir a little bit. Maybe I woke him up.
"You OK? Why are you up" he asks
"Work. Duh." I laugh
"Oh yeah. I forgot." he says
"Its fine. Just go back to sleep. I'm gonna hop in the shower and get ready."
"OK. have fun Honey." he says
I kiss him on the cheek and go in the bathroom. I sigh and open up the medicine cabinet. Something falls out. I rub my eyes and pick it up as it focuses I notice that its a pregnancy test. I think for a second.
Wouldn't hurt I guess. Mark and I did that last weekend. Guess I should check even though its unlikely.
I was diagnosed with a disease when I was 19 that said it would make it very hard, but not impossible, to have children. I do all the steps required and wait the 60 seconds. I brush my hair and turn on the shower and make it warm while I wait. I walk over, close my eyes and pick it up. I open my eyes and my bored expression turns to shock. My heart sinks.

Oh my god.... This has to be wrong, it HAS to be! I can't be pregnant! It was near impossible!
I feel myself sweat a little. I look on the mirror. My face is pale. I take a few deep breaths and calm myself down
OK cool down Tay, Down. It could be wrong. I'll stop at the doctor after work and get a formal test done. Then I'll know for sure.
I hop in the shower and throw on my uniform before going to work. Work did get better, about 6 months ago Melanie was fired and a nice 33-34 year old woman named Stephanie came in to take her place. All of us bonded quickly and work well together. I clock in and throw my stuff in my locker before going in. Steph and Rani were there taking. Rani waves me over when she sees me.
"Hey Taylor, are you OK?" Stephanie says
"Yeah- Well not exactly."
"What's up?"
"I-I uh.."
They look at me expectantly
"I think I might be pregnant."
They both look at me kinda shocked.
"I took a test this morning and it came out positive! I'm going to the doctor's after work but if it is positive- Oh my God! What is Mark gonna think?"
"OK calm down. I remember when I was in a situation much like yours. I had been married to my husband for 4-5 months and I discovered I was pregnant. I went to the doctor and told myme husband. He was shaken up but he was excited." she says
"You don't think Mark will leave me do you?"
"oh no! Of course not! Mark loves you too much to leave you." she says
I smile she was right. She reassured me that everything would be ok. Later that evening I went to the doctor and yes it was positive. I was gonna have a baby sometime in January. I was thinking on the way home about how to tell Mark. When I got home I came inside and sat on the couch. Mark was recording so I didn't bother him. I looked at the papers the nurse gave me with my test results and what all the doctor babble means. I read up on it then shoved it in my bag when he came out.
"Hey babe! How was work?" he asks
"Good. Bit of a slow day."
"Well, wanna do some recording with me?"
"Uh not now. I actually need to tell you something." I bring my bag into the kitchen
"What? How Handsome I am?"
"No."
"How Awesome I am?"
"No."
"How I'm the best husband ever?"
"No!"
"How I'm-"
"Mark I'm pregnant."
He looks at me. The smile has dissapeared from his face.
"What?" he asks
I nod. I feel tears welling up in my eyes, I reach for the paper that proved it all.
"I'm sorry."
I start crying
"What? Oh no honey! No no! This wasn't your fault!" He puts everything down and embracves me
"I know but still I didn't plan for it."
"So? We didn't plan for a lot of things! That doesn't mean it wasn't a blessing!" he says
"You really think so?"
"Yes. I also think you're gonna be a great mom." he says
I smile. Mark blew my mind. I thought he would freak out or something. He didn't. He was the guy he always had been. He was the guy I needed him to be. He was gonna be like superdad!
Little boy or girl. Please grow healthy and strong for us. Even though you were a surprise that doesn't mean we love you any less. Bet you can't wait to meet your dad! You'll love him! He's gonna help me take good care of you. We both can't wait to meet you!
