They had walked to the car silently. It would seem that Nonso had not Even entered the gym. He had just arrived but he turned back right after Derins words hit him. Derin felt uncertain. Surely she had done the right thing. But why did it feel like she just plung a knife between her breasts.

Beatrice had been saying something but neither she nor Lola responded. They both understood what had happened. Lola's glare confirmed her suspicions, She crushed Nonso.

"Did you see his face?" Lola asked. Her head banged against the steering and she grunted. "He looked broken."

"I don't care." Derin snapped. She was infuriated already and Lola was adding more fuel by stating the obvious but what was it with every one gunning for she and Nonso to be together.

"What I did was for the best. At least now he knows how I actually feel." Derin added and turned away.

"I just have this weird feeling that you'll regret your words I don't kno.. Never mind." Lola quickly added as she ignited the car engine. Slowly, she reversed out of the parking lot.

"I don't need you guys interfering in my business! You guys do that a lot and it's not fair. Not just that, but you also won't take my side. It's always Nonso. What about me? He cheated on me! Do you think it's easy to just let him in? What do i look like?! That everyone thinks they can fuck me over and then come back acting like nothing happened! News flash, something happened and call me bitchy I don't care — but I'm not letting go so easily! I can't risk him breaking me again. I can't." Derin shouted. Her anger had reached it's zenith and she felt the need to release it.

"Sometimes in life, we have to take risks to move foward." Lola grunted out as she looked out carefully for an incoming car while reversing. She drove out slowly until she reached the outside.

"Risks? So what if I get hurt, what if something worse happens this time."

Lola handed the security men an old two hundred naira note as she left the compound.

"You are being paranoid. Besides if you don't want to hear him out, fine. But don't go around saying words that would hurt him."

Derin stared at her in disbelief. It irked her that Lola went on supporting Nonso.

"Holy mary." she sneered. "You can go and date him."

Lola glanced at her as she swerved right, narrowly escaping the traffic light. "What are you saying now?"

"You know what I'm saying. What's it with everyone supporting Nonso and calling me the devil. He was the one who caused all this."

The car screeched to a halt as Lola parked by the corner. She turned to Derin sharply.

"You almost ruined his life, Derin. Don't you feel guilty about what you did out of anger. Infact what you did is much more worse than what he did. You know it. You could have ruined his life for good. And we both know that Nonso won't be running after you as he is now if he finds out."

Derin froze. The hair on her back stood. Goose bumps filled her skin and a sinking feeling settled in her chest. She didn't want a reminder of what she had done. What she had done to Nonso after he cheated. She didn't think that Lola would have the guts to bring it up. Not now, not ever.

"Lola. The price I had to pay after that was much more worse than anything. Besides you have no right to judge me. I was in a dark place at that time."
