The Goodbye

Lizzy's POV

Today is the day I say goodbye to my best friend. I am missing school today, so I can say goodbye. I wake up and pull the covers off of me and stretch.

I hear Zach in the bathroom doing his hair. I walk in casually and brush my teeth "how did you sleep" I ask spitting out the toothpaste. He puts down the comb, "barley. I am nervous" I laugh "Well you won't be once you get off that plane." I continue brushing my teeth.

"I'm sorry Lizzy" he says moving closer to me. I clean my mouth up and sit on the counter. "I told you, don't be." He walks in front of me. "I promised you" he says with a tear sliding down his cheek landing on my leg.

I see his hair is messed up so I fix it while talking to him "You did. Doesn't mean you still won't do it when you get back." He smiles and hugs me. "Lets go" I say and he looks at his hair "You did better than me" I laugh.

We walk down stairs. All ready and Zach is packed. Reese runs up to me and I pick her up. We go out to the car. The ride is silent and not even a peep said. I look out the window. That has rain streaks on it.

We arrive at the airport. We al get out of the car and we say goodbye to Zach out front. Everyone hugs him. Reese was a wreck. She runs up to him. "Zach!" She says. He hugs her and they both are crying. "Please don't go." She cries. Zach looks at her "I have to. I will come back soon. " he says and she hugs him " I love you zach" she says and I see him smile "I love you too Reese"

My turn. I already have tears brimming my eyelids. I walk over to him and hug him. "I'm sorry" he says and I shake my head " I am gonna miss you so much" I say and he hugs me tighter. "Me too".

We sway back and forth " I love you so much Zach" I say and I feel him smile against my neck "I love you too Lizzy" he kisses my forehead and we let Of the hug. His hand leaves my hand and we watch him walk off. "Bye" He says and we wave. He makes eye contact with me until he can't.

I pick up Reese while she sobs into my shoulder. We get home and I say "I think I should go back home " Reese runs up to me "no stay here one more day. I miss Zach too much" I smile and nod.

2 hours later

I get a text

Zach💙 - I just touched down in LA. Still thinking about you. I promised. I love you Lizzy

Lizzy✨- good. Me too. Love you too Zach. Reese misses you a lot.

Zach💙 - tell her I love her and I miss her. She can have my sweater along with you.

Lizzy✨okay night Zach

Zach💙 - night Lizzy.

End of conversation

I walk into Zach's room from giving Reese his sweatshirt and I climb into his bed cuddling his other sweater. Crying. "Zach why did you leave" I say quietly. I hug the sweater thinking it's Zach. I miss him.
