"I was walking to the bus stop." Vanessa softly explained, "That was when a car pulled up beside me. The driver rolled down the window and sprayed me with a mist that made me feel drowsy. That's the last thing I remember before I woke up in his apartment."

Beckett was now hugging Vanessa from behind. Vanessa leaned into him for comfort.

"Vanessa, you said "his apartment". Who is the "he" you're referring to?" the cop asked.

"I don't know. He never gave me a name. He seemed pretty insane though." Vanessa responded.

"When you were held in his apartment, did anything happen? Did he do anything to you?" the cop asked. Beckett wasn't sure he wanted to hear the answer to this question.

"He... I'm sorry. I don't think I can do this." Vanessa said while staring at the floor.

"Kids, can you give us some privacy?" the cop said to Beckett, Carly, Sasha and Jenna. The four reluctantly headed for the door. They exited, and closed the door behind them.

"I need to hear what they're saying." Beckett said with his ear pressed to the door. The rest of the group did the same.

"Well, he, um, asked me to tell him my name. I didn't want to, so he punched me." Vanessa said, weakly.

Beckett's eyebrows furrowed. He had examined the bruises on Vanessa's arms, earlier. She must've been hit hard. Beckett felt anger start to build up inside of him.

"Also... at one point I tried to call Carly, since I had my phone with me. But then he caught me with it. He took my phone away, and he hit me again. He did some things that... I'm sorry I don't think I can say." Vanessa's voice started to break, "He would tie me down, and..."

Beckett leaned away from the door at this point. His knees felt weak. After taking a few deep breaths, he returned to his spot against the door.

"The guy who took me was cruel. He was crazy. The 24 hours that I spent with him felt like forever." Vanessa explained to the cop, "When he would hit me, I would just close my eyes and hope that someone would come and help me. No matter how loud I screamed or yelled, no one would come. I felt hopeless. I thought everyone forgot about me."

Beckett felt a tear roll down his cheek. He was crying. Again. Beckett was afraid the others would notice, but they were so focused on the story, no one seemed to care.

"I should have been there for her." Beckett thought to himself.

Vanessa began explaining more in-depth details about what happened to her.

"I think I'm going to be sick." Carly said, in tears, as she ran down the hall.

"Carly, wait!" Jenna shouted after her. Jenna and Sasha ran down the hall to find her. Beckett wanted to go after Carly. But he needed to hear the rest of the story, as heart-breaking as it was.

"I kept wishing Carly, or anyone at all would come and help me. I wanted Beckett. I wished that he would suddenly burst in the room and hug me."

Beckett began crying harder. He squeezed his eyes shut.

"Vanessa needed me and I wasn't there." Beckett thought to himself.

Inside the room, Vanessa was in hysterics. She reached her limit. All the emotions that she felt while she was abducted, were finally being set free.

"I honestly shouldn't even be near Beckett and the others anymore."

Beckett furrowed his eyebrows again. What was Vanessa talking about?

"He's going to come after me. He'll find me eventually. And if I'm with my friends, I'll put them in danger too. I can't do that."

Beckett could no longer support himself, he was fully leaning against the door. This was the last straw.

"Vanessa, you're safe now. We'll make sure he doesn't come after you." the cop replied, gently.

"You don't know what he's capable of." Vanessa said, shuddering, "Either way, will my friends still like me? I remember Beckett telling me that he liked how "strong" I was. That's obviously not the case now. Everything has changed."
