A/N: Hey guys! I would like to apologize for not updating in such a long time. To be honest, I've been procrastinating on finishing this fanfic. Again, I'm truly sorry for the delay, but enjoy this chapter!

Beckett was a nervous wreck. He was losing his mind. He paced around the police station as he ran his fingers through his messy hair. He failed to notice the police officer approaching him.

"Mr. Bradstreet? Excuse me?" the officer called. Beckett seemed as if he was in a trance. The police officer gently squeezed his shoulder to try to get his attention again. Beckett jumped at the officer's touch.

"Y-y-yes? Did you f-f-find anything about Vanessa?" Beckett asked, eyes wide.

"Yes, we traced a possible location of where your friend is being held. We're sending a team out shortly." the officer replied. Beckett shook his head.

"Can I go with them? Please?" Beckett said with fear evident in his eyes. The police officer shot him a sympathetic look.

"I'm sorry, I can't allow that." the officer sighed. He pitied the poor boy.

"Please? I can't just sit here waiting to see if Vanessa's okay." Beckett pleaded. The officer slowly nodded.

"Alright, I suppose you can come. As long as you don't get in the way." the officer said. Beckett grinned for the first time that day.

The officer and Beckett walked out of the police station to the police car. As soon as they got in the car, they drove off.

"I assume Vanessa's not just a "friend"?" the officer asked.

"Yeah. She's much more than a friend." Beckett mumbled. He stared blankly down at his lap.

"Oh. I'm so sorry. We'll find her." the officer said quietly. Beckett nodded in reply.

"How could I let this happen?" Beckett's voice broke. He could feel his resolve breaking. Beckett ran his hand through his messy hair.

"This isn't your fault. No one could've predicted this would happen." the officer said, comfortingly.

"I told her I would protect her, a-a-and I couldn't even do that." Beckett said through his tear-strained voice.

"Don't blame yourself, Mr. Bradstreet. We'll find her."

"B-b-but what if we can't? She could be hurt, or–"

"Don't say that! We have a whole team of officers looking for her. Heck, we even have a K-9 unit sniffing around. We are doing the best we can. We will find her." the police officer said, trying to ease Beckett's mind.

"She doesn't deserve this." Beckett said softly.

"I know, I know." the officer soothed. Silent tears continued to fall down Beckett's face.

Beckett and the officer finally arrived at the scene. Beckett surveyed his surroundings. They seemed to be in a forest. There were no houses in sight.

"Okay Mr. Bradstreet. I'm going to go search around with my team. You should wait in the car." the officer explained. Beckett nodded.

"Hey! We found something over here! It looks promising!" another officer shouted from afar.

"That's my cue! I'll be right back." the officer said reassuringly.

"Can I come? Please!" Beckett pleaded again.

"Fine. Let's go." Beckett and the officer took off running.
