*Jay's P.O.V*
I was awoken by Erin's alarm but decided to keep my eyes shut and pretend to still be asleep. I lay in bed pretending to be asleep whilst Erin got ready for work and once she left, I rose to my feet and started getting ready for the day.
By lunch time I had everything set up exactly the way I wanted it and decided to head down to the district. I took my tux for this evening with me as I would not be returning home until later tonight.
*30 minutes later*
My heart was pounding and sweat was beading down my forehead as I pulled into the district, parking in the far corner of the parking lot so that Erin wouldn't see my car. I was so nervous that something would go wrong this evening. I had tried so hard to make sure everything was perfect for her but I couldn't shake the thoughts running through my head at a million miles an hour. Would she like all the little notes I had left for her? Would she say yes?
As I shut off my engine, the unit peeled off out of the car park with their lights and sirens on. I laughed as I saw Ruzek sitting in the passenger seat next to Erin looking terrified. It was nice to know that it wasn't just me she stopped from driving. I waited until I could no longer hear their sirens before heading inside.
I greeted Platt on my way upstairs, receiving a swift wave of the hand in response.
Mouse was the only one in the squad room when I reached the top of the stairs.
"Hey, where did everyone else go?" I asked, sitting down at my desk with a sigh.
"They went to pick up a suspect" he replied, his eyes not leaving the computer screen in front of him.
"What did the suspect do?" I asked whilst writing a note for Erin.
"He killed three police officers with guns stolen from a military base in Washington" he said, looking up from his computer with a solemn expression on his face. I shook my head in disbelief. I will never understand some people.
"I hate sitting around whilst she is out there running after such dangerous people. I know she can handle herself but I still worry about her" I admitted, getting up to place the note on Erin's desk.
"I know telling you not to worry about her would be pointless, but you need to trust her because as you said, she can handle herself. And with the mood she is in today, I would hate to be that suspect they're after" he admitted with a chuckle.
"Mood? What do you mean?" I asked, growing concerned.
"She thinks you have forgotten that today is Valentine's Day. She stormed in this morning and went straight into the break room and slammed the door behind her" he informed me, sitting back in his chair.
"Hopefully tonight will make up for it" I said, breaking into a sweat.
"I'm sure she will love it. And speaking of Erin, they are on their way back now so you may want to get going" he told me. I grabbed my jacket and raced down to my car, shutting the door just as they pulled into the car park. I watched as Voight dragged the suspect out of the car. His shoulder was at an awkward angle, most likely dislocated, and he walked with a limp. I laughed before driving off.
I decided to go and set up at our dinner location for this evening to pass the time.
*1 hour later*
A knock on the door snapped me out of my thoughts. It was only three-thirty so it was too early for Erin to be arriving. I opened the door to reveal Burgess on the other side.
