*No one's P.O.V*

The ceiling fans in the squad room whirred and each member of the Intelligence Unit were busy typing away at their keyboards, desperately searching for anything that would point to where Jenkins was holding Erin hostage. Jay Halstead tapped his pen on his desk anxiously, struggling to remain focussed.

"I may have something" Mouse announced, immediately gaining the attention of the whole unit. They all got up and crowded around Mouse's desk. "I have been looking for records of any properties that either Jenkins or any of his family own that are in remote locations and I think I may have found one. His mother died three years ago after battling ovarian cancer for five years and she left her house to her son Vincent in her will" Mouse said, looking up to meet everyone's gaze.

"Nice work" Voight praised Mouse before turning to the rest of the unit, "Suit up! We roll out in five minutes" Voight instructed, heading down to the garage.

The Intelligence Unit along with Roman and Burgess, raced down to the garage to gear up before jumping into their cars and speeding off towards the house.

Jay could hardly sit still in anticipation of what they might find at the house they were currently speeding towards.

'Was his partner badly injured? Or worse, dead? What had Jenkins done to her?' Jay thought anxiously to himself, unable to control the thoughts racing around in his head.

*20 minutes later*

The Intelligence unit screamed to a stop outside the house and immediately jumping into action, splitting off into two groups of four – Burgess, Roman, Dawson and Atwater split off to go around the back whilst Voight, Jay, Ruzek and Olinsky prepared to go in the front.

They had only taken a couple of steps when the house exploded, the force of the blast launched them back several feet and slamming them into the ground. Debris flew from the house and landed all around them. In an instant, the house was reduced to a burning heap of rubble. There was no way that any of the occupants of the house could have survived a blast of that magnitude.

*Jay's P.O.V*

The force of the explosion thrust us back several feet and slammed us into the ground with breathtaking force.

The impact with the ground left me winded and gasping for breath.

I leapt to my feet and attempted to make a dash towards the house, only to be held back by Ruzek and Atwater. I struggled desperately against their grasp but try as I might, I could not break free.

"Jay, it's too dangerous man. The fire department will be here any minute" Olinsky said, placing his hand on my shoulder

"ERIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" I screamed, falling to my knees as the sound of sirens got louder.

*30 minutes later*

The fire was finally out, a heap of smouldering rubble was all that remained.
Severide and Casey emerged from the rubble, sullen expressions on their faces.

"We got a body in the eastern side of the house. It looks as though whoever it was, was chained to the wall" Severide informed us, avoiding eye contact with me. His words shattered what little hope I had left that I would see Erin again.

"What about the bomb? What can you tell us about that?" Voight asked, his expression unreadable.

"It was located in the room next to where the body is and l couldn't say for sure but it appears to have been remotely detonated" Casey explained to Voight.

"He wanted us to find this house, he wanted us to witness this explosion" Olinsky speculated aloud.

"He sees this as a game; a way to taunt us. He may even be watching right now" Ruzek suggested. We scanned the street and the surrounding rooftops but could see nothing. If Jenkins was watching us, he was well hidden.

Mouch and Boden emerged from the rubble carrying the burnt and blackened body on a stretcher and loaded it onto the coroner's van. I couldn't look.

Burgess and Roman approached Voight, "We photographed the area where the body was found and the room where the bomb was located" Roman stated, hugging Burgess as she leaned into him and let her tears fall. He rubbed slow circles on her back to comfort her. Voight nodded his approval before ordering us all back to the district.
