*5 months later*

*No one's P.O.V*

Five months had been and gone, and the case had gone stone cold.

Jay rarely slept, rarely ate, and drank himself into oblivion every night after work, desperately wanting the pain to go away. He had become a shell of his former self, never speaking unless he was spoken to and never leaving the house except to go to work. He was barely keeping it together.

The rest of the team tried to speak to him, but no matter how hard they tried, he just pushed them all away.

His brother Will checked on him as often as he could, but Jay just ignored him.

The woman he loved was out there somewhere and Jay did not know if she was even still alive. He was inconsolable.

*Voight's P.O.V*

I sat at my desk and watched as my team trickled in one by one, slowly sinking down into their chairs and getting to work. Halstead was the last one to arrive; something that had become a regular occurrence since Erin was kidnapped.

The man was falling apart. His clothes now hung off him and there have been a few instances in the past couple of months where I have stopped by his house on my way home from work and found him passed out drunk on the lounge room floor, surrounded by empty beer bottles. The light in his eyes had gone out and his gaze was now hollow.

This whole ordeal had made it very clear just how much Halstead loved Erin and had reassured me that I had made the right choice in looking the other way.

The sound of footsteps pounding up the stairs caught my attention and I stood in the doorway of my office waiting to see who it was.

Sergeant Platt reached the top of the stairs and the solemn look on her face got everyone's attention. She strode over to the whiteboard and pinned up a photo of a young boy. My heart sank.

"Carson Myers was taken from his foster parents' home at four o'clock this morning. He is four years old. Vincent Jenkins was spotted on security footage at Millennium Station fifteen minutes later. Carson appeared to be unconscious" she informed us, despair evident in her voice.

"Do we know where Jenkins went after he was spotted on the security cameras at the station?" I asked, hoping that Jenkins had made a mistake and gotten caught on camera somewhere else.

"Security cameras didn't spot him anywhere else" Platt responded, turning to face me.

"Why did Jenkins wait five months to abduct another kid?" Ruzek asked, leaning back in his chair.

"You're the detective, you figure it out" Platt snapped before heading back downstairs. Ruzek was speechless.

"Let's get to work!" I shouted before heading back into my office.

*Erin's P.O.V*

I did not know how long I had been down in this cramped, dark room. It felt like a lifetime. Several young boys had come and gone, their screams filling the air as they were beaten, and their sobs filled the silence in the dead of night as they begged for their parents to rescue them.

Despite having lost quite a bit of weight, I was ok. Jenkins rarely spoke to me, except when he brought me my meals in the evenings.

My thoughts were interrupted when the door opened, and Jenkins walked in carrying a young boy, no older than three or four, over his shoulder.

He placed him down on the bed in the corner and then sat down in the chair near the door.

"Please don't hurt him" I begged, turning to face Jenkins with tears streaming down my face. Jenkins simply rolled his eyes and then returned his gaze to the boy.

"Please let him go! Why are you doing this?" I pleaded with him desperately, earning a glare and slap across the face which sent me flying backwards into the cement wall behind me.

I whimpered in pain as my back slammed into the hard cement wall.

The young boy started to stir awake and Jenkins smirked, rising to his feet, and cracking his knuckles. The sound sent chills down my spine.

Upon seeing Jenkins face when he opened his eyes, the boy started screaming. This only angered Jenkins who proceeded to punch and kick the boy.

My screams for him to stop were ignored and it wasn't long before the young boy was unconscious.

A.N////// So now you know that Erin is still alive so far.
