*No one's P.O.V*
Not a word was spoken as Jay and Erin sat in the back seat of Hank Voight's car, never once letting go of the other. Both were afraid that if they let go, they would never get to hold the other again.
Hank Voight watched on, smiling as he watched his detectives in the back seat. It was obvious to him that Jay genuinely cared about Erin and he was silently glad that he had not objected to them getting together. It had been obvious these past 5 months just how much Erin meant to him and he felt confident that Jay would do whatever it took to keep her safe. Voight would never admit it aloud, but he was quietly rooting for the young couple. Anyone who saw them together would have to be blind not to see that they loved each other.
Erin rested her head on Jay's shoulder as Voight drove down the busy Chicago streets towards their house.
Voight pulled his car over in front of the young detectives' house, watching as Jay unbuckled their seatbelts and ran around the car to open Erin's door for her.
The two detectives stopped at the front door, turning to thank Voight for the lift home. Erin wrapped her arms around him, grateful to be in his warm and comforting embrace.
"I'll leave you both to it, but I am only a phone call away if you need anything" he stated, kissing Erin's forehead before shaking Jay's hand and turning to walk to his car.
They watched him drive away before heading inside. Jay put his badge and gun in the safe before turning to face Erin.
"Would you like something to eat or drink?" he asked gently. Erin shook her head no, looking down at her feet nervously.
"What about a warm bath?" he suggested, smiling as her eyes lit up at his suggestion.
"With that muscle soak stuff?" she asked hopefully, smiling at Jay.
"Of course," Jay promised, scooping her up in his arms and carrying her into their ensuite, setting her down so that she could get undressed.
*5 minutes later*
Once Jay had finished filling the bath tub, he turned around to face Erin, his heart skipping a beat when he saw that she was completely naked.
"Th.... the water is ready" he stammered, his eyes never leaving her body. Erin blushed, stepping past him and hopping in.
Erin relaxed as the warm water soothed her aching muscles.
"Is the temperature okay? Jay asked, still unable to tear his eyes away.
"It's perfect thank you" Erin replied, smiling softly at him, chuckling as he shifted uncomfortably on the spot. Jay smiled at her, enjoying the sound of her laugh. He would give anything to hear it every day.
"I'll leave you to it, but I'll be in the bedroom if you need anything" Jay said, averting his eyes up to her face.
"Please don't go" Erin begged, her expression full of fear as a fresh tear slipped down her cheek.
Jay moved to be next to her and wrapped his arms around her, not caring that his shirt was getting wet, as Erin cried into his shoulder. "Okay, I'll stay" he comforted her, rubbing her back gently. Erin wrapped her arms around his neck and let all the tears she had been holding back flow down her face.
*20 minutes later*
Jay rose to his feet and grabbed a towel before offering to help Erin out of the bath. Erin gladly accepted his offer and took hold of his hand to balance herself as she stepped out of the water. Jay held out the towel for her, Erin took it and wrapped it around her slender frame.
They made their way into the bedroom where Jay had laid out some pyjamas for her. Erin slowly slipped into the pyjamas Jay had set out for her before climbing into bed and cuddling up to Jay.
They each relaxed, relieved to finally be back together. All was right with the world again and they slipped into a peaceful slumber, smiles on their faces.
Both would get the best sleep they have had in months.
