*2 months later*

*No one's P.O.V*

Jay and Erin slept peacefully, wrapped up in each other's arms. Both were blissfully unaware of the events that would unfold in a few short hours.

*BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! *

Jay's alarm sounded, jolting the pair from their peaceful slumber. They rolled out of bed, stretching as they did to relieve their tired, aching muscles.

Jay walked around the bed and wrapped his arms around Erin's waist from behind, bending down to rest his chin on her shoulder as Erin brought her hands to rest on top of his.

"Morning beautiful" Jay said, kissing her cheek gently. Erin smiled, leaning back into Jay's chest.

"Morning" she replied, turning around, and wrapping her arms around his neck before planting a kiss on his lips. Jay eagerly kissed her back and pulled her closer to him, deepening the kiss and lifting her up. Erin wrapped her legs around his waist and played with his hair as they continued their impromptu make out session.

Jay turned around and gently placed her down on the bed, careful not to put too much weight on her as he hovered over her.

*30 minutes later*

The two detectives raced to get their clothes on before rushing out to their car. They had 15 minutes to get to work and the traffic gods were not on their side this morning.

*25 minutes later*

It was now ten minutes past nine and Halstead and Lindsay still had not arrived. The rest of the unit sat at their desks discussing the stats from last night's game.

The sound of Erin's laughter could be heard floating up the stairs, halting the conversation of the other detectives. They each turned their attention to the stairs and watched as the pair reached the top of the stairs, Erin clinging on to Jay's back and her legs wrapped securely around his waist. The two detectives were in their own world and were oblivious to the fact that the eyes of the whole Intelligence Unit were on them.

Hank Voight stood in the doorway to his office with his arms crossed across his chest. He did not tolerate tardiness but seeing Erin so happy, softened his resolve slightly.

*Voight's P.O.V*

"You are late" I shouted, snapping the couple back to reality.

Erin slowly slid off Jay's back and down to the floor, "Sorry" she apologised, before both detectives sat down at their respective desks. It was obvious what had made them late and decided not to press the matter any further.

"Now that we are all here," I started, stealing a glance at Halstead and Lindsay before continuing, "A series of banks were robbed overnight by the same crew. Robbery squad has a back log of cases, so they have handed the case over to us. Check the security cameras at the banks and see if we can get an ID on the offenders. Atwater and Ruzek, I want you to head to each of the banks and report back with what you find out" I continued, walking back into my office as everyone got to work.

Burgess and Roman talked quietly amongst themselves as they pointed at the laptop screen in front of them. Olinsky stood behind Mouse, leaning over his shoulder as he watched the computer screen carefully. Halstead and Lindsay sat next to each other, Halstead's hand resting on Erin's thigh as their eyes remained trained on the security footage in front of them.

I was a bit hesitant when Erin and Jay first started dating but watching them together and seeing how happy they both are has made me realise that I made the right decision to not stand in the way of them getting together. Anyone who saw them together could tell just how much they truly loved each other.

*No one's P.O.V*

Suddenly there was a flurry of excitement from Burgess and Roman.

"You guys are going to want to see this!" Burgess exclaimed, as the rest of the team gathered in front of the desk.

Burgess turned the screen around and pressed play. The Intelligence unit watched on, unsure of what they were supposed to be looking for. As the video ended, they looked at Burgess, confused expressions on their faces.

"Check out the guy who bends over" she instructed, starting the footage again.

They watched the screen intently and their eyes widened with excitement as they finally saw what had Burgess and Roman so excited. The man who bent over had a tattoo of a dragon on his lower back.

"Mouse, can you run this tattoo through the prison database and see if you get a match?" Jay asked, turning to look at Mouse who had already raced over to his desk and started typing away at his computer.

The Intelligence unit waited anxiously as Mouse ran the man's tattoo through the prison database hoping to find a match.

*Ding! *

"Thomas Zickermann. I'll send his address to you now and have Ruzek and Atwater meet you there" Mouse announced as the unit leapt into action, grabbing their guns, and heading down to the armoury to grab their vests before heading to their cars and speeding off to Zickermann's house.

Jay and Erin held hands as Erin drove down the busy Chicago streets, one hand on the wheel as she expertly steered the car in and out of traffic. Their hearts pounded with anticipation as they got closer to the house. Every time they went after a suspect they could be injured or worse, killed. The thought of losing each other ate away at them and both dreaded the day they did. It was inevitable. Death was inevitable, no matter how hard you tried to avoid it. This was a fact that every member of intelligence was all too aware of. They all knew what it was like to lose a fellow officer and they all knew that they would inevitably lose someone again in the future. It was the price they had to pay to protect the city they loved.

Erin screeched to a halt behind Voight's matte black SUV and jumped out of the car after giving Jay's hand a firm squeeze, something that they did just before every dangerous situation they rushed into. It had become their way of saying 'I love you' without using words.

They both followed the rest of the unit with their guns drawn and their eyes scanning for danger.

Suddenly, and almost by chance, Jay glanced to his left, stopping dead in his tracks when he spotted Zickermann walking down the path with a bag of groceries.

"Chicago P.D! Stop!" he commanded, taking off in pursuit when Zickermann dropped his groceries and ran back the way he came.

The rest of the unit followed him, their feet pounding on the pavement as they gave chase.

It did not take long for Jay to catch up to Zickermann and tackle him to the ground. Jay slapped the cuffs on and dragged him to his feet.

"Take him to the cage" Voight instructed as Jay handed Zickermann over to Atwater and Ruzek.
