*Valentine's Day*
*No one's P.O.V*
Erin and Jay emerged from their shower, still unable to keep their hands off each other. The water running cold, the only reason the pair got out of the shower. They fumbled their way into the bedroom, and Jay lay her down carefully, only pausing to admire her.
*30 minutes later*
The two detectives lay on their bed, Erin half on top of Jay rubbing circles on his bare chest. Jay's arms were wrapped around her back and he placed a kiss on the top of her head.
Erin looked up at him and smiled, "I love you" she declared, connecting her lips to his briefly before snuggling in closer to his side.
"I love you too" Jay said, rolling them over.
*A few hours later*
Jay walked back into their bedroom, two coffee mugs in his hand. He set his mug down on the bedside table on his side of the bed before making his way around to Erin's side.
He paused for a moment to watch the way the sunlight danced across her face as she slept. He smiled as he watched her nose twitch, something that she only did when she was happy.
He placed her coffee on her bedside table before leaning over and placing a soft kiss on her lips. Erin stirred and kissed him back. After a few moments he pulled back, "Erin sweetheart" he whispered softly, earning a mumble in response. "I have a surprise for you, but you need to put some clothes on first" he told her.
"A surprise? What is it?" she asked, sitting up to look at Jay.
"If I told you, it wouldn't be a surprise now would it" Jay teased, handing Erin her cup of coffee. Erin pouted but Jay didn't give in, instead getting to his feet and walking off to get dressed himself.
*1 hour later*
Jay pulled the car to a stop and turned to face Erin who had been blindfolded since they left their house. Jay hopped out of the car after instructing Erin to stay seated and walked around the car. He opened her car door for her and helped her out, closing the car door behind her and guiding her away from the car.
They came to a stop and Jay reached up to remove the blindfold from Erin's eyes. Erin looked around the park in confusion before turning to Jay. Jay chuckled at her confusion before explaining, "Let's have a picnic by the lake" he said, holding up a picnic basket that she hadn't noticed previously.
"Sounds good" Erin beamed up at Jay. Jay smiled and took her hand, leading her in the direction of the lake.
The pair walked hand in hand to the lake before Jay came to a stop in the middle of the bridge that ran across the lake, letting go of Erin's hand. Erin turned to see why Jay had stopped, gasping in shock when she saw Jay down on one knee.
"Erin Lindsay, before I met you, I wandered through life without purpose, just waiting for death. I got up in the mornings and spent my days on autopilot, not really caring whether I made it home safely at night. My life had no real meaning. During my time in the Rangers I saw friends killed right in front of me, I saw innocent men, women and children blown to pieces in the name of religion and I saw the worst side of humanity. I lost faith in people. I stopped believing that there was still any shred of humanity left in this world. The day I met you is one I will remember and cherish for the rest of my life because that was the day I started to believe again. You took my breath away and from that moment on I was totally captivated by you. Your courage to keep going despite everything you have been through is astounding. Your bravery in the face of danger is admirable and your kindness in times of adversary is unrivalled. That day we went under cover and you asked me about the woman I was interested in and I went off on this long spiel about how I felt, I wish I had had the balls to tell you that you were the one I was madly in love with and the one I will be madly in love with until the day I die. So that just leaves one thing – Erin, will you marry me?" Jay asked, so nervous that he felt like his heart was going to beat right out of his chest. A tear slipped down Erin's cheek as her brain processed what Jay had said.
"Yes! Absolutely yes! Of course, I will marry you" she exclaimed, bending down and wrapping her arms around Jay. Jay returned her hug, relieved that Erin had said yes.
Jay pulled back and took hold of her hand before sliding the ring on her finger. Erin placed her hands on either side of Jay's face and leant in, kissing him with more passion than she knew was possible.
People watching on couldn't help but smile at the exchange between the young couple.
A.N.///// This book is officially finished! I can't believe that I have now written two books - such a crazy thought!
I hope you like not only this chapter, but this book as well.
And, as promised, the synopsis for Book 3 - 'We Could Be Heroes' is below:
^ Cover Art for Book 3
They face off with hardened criminals, risking their lives for the city they love. Dodging bullets and even the occasional car, they never shy away from danger in the pursuit of justice. When the members of the Chicago police force become the target of a manic serial killer, the Intelligence Unit will stop at nothing to obtain justice for their slain comrades. Keeping their personal and professional lives separate will become a challenge and for one member of the unit, an injury will change their life forever. Through triumph and tragedy, one thing is for sure – life will never be the same.
I will be commencing the planning stages of this book in the coming days. It may be awhile before Chapter 1 for book 3 is ready so please be patient with me. I will do my best to get it done as soon as possible.
I only ask for patience because whilst I was in the planning stages of this book, I received death threats (Yes death threats - I'm not kidding). The person behind those threats was dealt with by the police.
I know you aren't all like that though.
Everyone else I have spoken to has been absolutely lovely!
I look forward to hearing your thoughts :)
I will see you in the next book my lovelies!amberjadecatherine xxxx
