Part 5 Of The First Draft
Perry, my knight in clandestine attire, defeated Becky in basketball, barely. Perry then tossed the ball to Becky so she could put it away, and announced,
“Good game.”
He didn't say a word more, ever the humble victor. I wouldn't see the two of them until later on at lunch, where I sat and waited for them. I kept wondering how Renee was doing, who attended her senior year of school here last year. Becky is a good replacement and all, but I still don't know if I can fully trust Becky. I want to, but it is difficult, as it seems she is bent on showing up Perry in some type of ritualistic competition. She should know by now that I love him. Whatever I could feel for Rebecca would be secondary and artificial. Despite all of her intellectual and physical skill, it does not take away from her childish mentality.
“Oh, hey guys. Listen, you two. I'm sorry for this morning. I should know better than to try and show up someone I admire.”
Perry waved his hand, and told Becky,
“It's okay. It was kind of fun, really.”
Becky laughed, and pointed out,
“Because you won.”
Perry then joined in the laughter, and said,
“True, true.”
It was one of those few happy moments we would share this school year. As the school day came to a close later on, Becky rushed out behind us when we were walking home from school, and asked,
“Can I show you somewhere?”
Perry seemed frustrated with her interruption, and replied to her sharply,
“This better be good, Becky.”
She reassured us,
“Oh, trust me, it will be.”
She led us down a side street and then through an alley, bringing us into the heart of the east side. Around the corner of the alley was a club marked with a sign as,
“The Weekend Freak.”
I looked at Becky, and asked,
“What is this?”
Becky laughed at me, as if she thought I was dumb for not knowing what the place is. She explained, in a demeaning tone,
“This is where everyone strange goes to gather each weekend. I found out about you two here from a guy who was standing out front one Friday. I wanted to go in there, but they said only Lamia, vampires, and lycanthropes can enter the club.”
Vampires? How many could there be in Knoxville besides Nel, the vampire we quarreled with during the summer time? Before I saw her, I thought they were only myth. Now Becky is telling me there is more? Now this is something I have to see.
“So we could get in here, Becky? We fit the bill.”
Becky's answer was surprising.
“Well, you know, if I pull in some strings, all three of us could....”
What?
“But Becky, you aren't able to get in, right?”
She cleared her throat, and suggested,
“You could take me as yours and Perry's date....they won't argue with you. They all have heard of you, after all.”
This is something I couldn't help but think be dangerous. Whether or not we go to The Weekend Freak, it won't matter. Dangerous customers like vampires and lycanthropes will hunt us down either way, so why don't we introduce ourselves to them and get it over with.
“That’s a great idea, Becky, and we'll need you in there. Dress nice and meet us here on Friday at 8 o'clock sharp.”
Becky smiled and showed her gorgeous, perfectly white teeth. She resounded,
“Awesome!”
We walked all the way to the Eisens, Becky included. When we made it there, Renee was already waiting. She ran up to us, and took Becky by the arm.
“Hey, Becky! It's time to leave the two lovebirds alone now! Come on!”
Becky waved to us and had a look on her face like she was a prisoner being hauled off for execution, he he. Quite honestly, it'll be fun having a break from her. She is nice and all, cleaver even, but she is one of the biggest troublemakers I have ever seen. I feel like she is a little sister that has to be constantly pulled out of the bosom of danger. Renee is the only girl I know that is strong enough to control her. I only hope that Renee never turns her back or I know that Becky will slip away.
The whole Becky problem is sort of fun. She has given our life a whole new meaning already. I feel Perry is often annoyed with her and only feigns kindness towards her. Even still, I know we need her. I feel she knows even more than she lets on. Sometimes, I swear she is already one of us. She hasn't been chasing after us for no good reason. She hides it with that fan club nonsense. She wants me for the same reason that Perry wants me, that I know for sure. Rebecca will always be rivaling Perry, and that is exactly why he hates her. I never told Perry I'm bisexual, but I'm sure he knows. He knows everything about me, and that is a good thing. Most would be scared off if they knew every intricacy of who I truly am. Perry loves me unconditionally. A man like that is impossible to find, and that is why I will be forever his. Becky and not even Lana could ever take me from him. Before this school year is up, I will have completely bonded with him joining with him as a Lamia, and I’m stoked. I just want the bad feelings to end, and I feel that the Lamia's mighty intellectual prowess will cure me of my depression. It's no fun suffering from it. I don't cut for attention, but because they tell me to. I can't really tell you who or what they are. When I start to cut, it's because they tell me to. I haven't mentioned it to anyone because it hardly ever happen. These are always the words they say, over and over again,
“You can escape these feelings. You won't have to cry anymore if you die. Just cut.....cut.....cut....”
