Second Nature

Chapter 2: Richfield High

    After we got our ice cream we went home. As soon as we got home my dog, Stella, came to greet us at the door. My mother and I went into the living room and sat down on the couch. She hands me a few presents and says, "Here you go Belle." I take the couple of presents and open them. The first one is a nice dress that is turquoise and has a flower pattern on it. The second present is a  flower bracelet. And the third one is some Supernatural merchandise.

    "Thank you mom!" I was so happy for the Supernatural merchandise. 

    "You're welcome Belle. Happy birthday honey." I hug my mom, and go put my presents back in my bedroom.

    When I walk back to the living room, I start asking her a few questions. "Mom, how did you and I turn into timber wolves?" When I sit back down on the couch my mom looks at me.

    "We turned into timber wolves, because we are part human part animal." I look at her with a questioning expression.

    "So we are magical in a way?" I ask, my mom then answer quickly.

    "Yes, not everyone can turn into animals. Your friend Emily, she can turn into a red panda." I look at her in surprise.  

    She's one of my best friends, how did I never know that she could turn into a red panda?

    My mom interrupts my thoughts. "She will be going to the new school that you are going to. You'll be in the same classes as she is, so you'll get to see her more. She's already gone to the school to see what it is like there. She said that Richfield High is a great school. Also, it's a school where everyone can turn into an animal. I went there when I was your age, you'll start school there on Monday."

    'Great.'  I thought, 'Just what I want to do. I have to start a new school in two days. At least Emily will be going there. I'll have someone I know there.' 

    After awhile, we start watching 'Beauty and the Beast'. Stella comes up on the couch and puts her head on my left leg. I pet her for awhile during the movie while eating my Oreo ice cream, it's my favorite kind of ice cream. Stella gets up after awhile to go get a drink of water. Once she lays back down, she puts her head and paws on my lap. I pet her on the head for a little while, then I just kept my hand on her head. After the movie ended I decided to go to bed.

    On Monday I go to Richfield High. My mom drives me and told me, "There is nothing to be worried about. You'll just have to make some new friends, most of the people there are really nice. There are a few people you should watch out for, because there are four sons of the three guys that chased you, two of them are twins. Just be careful okay?"

    I look at her and say, "Okay mother, I'll be fine. Goodbye mom." 

    My mom responded, "Bye honey."

    I got out of the car and started walking to the front doors. I saw Emily standing there waving, I walked over to her and we walked in together.

    "Here follow me we have most of the same classes. I'll show you around the school." Emily was being so generous, as she showed me around I saw this one boy hanging out with three other guys. I notice that two of them look like they are related, they must be twins. 

    The boy that I noticed first had blonde hair, blue eyes, and was a little taller than me. I stopped and asked, "Hey Emily, who are those boys?"

    Emily stopped at looked a the boys, then turned towards me and said, "The twins are Calvin and Gray. The boy with black hair is Leo. And the boy with blonde hair is James. Those guys are bad news, stay away from them."

    I looked at them, there was four of them and two of them are twins. That sounded like the sons of the three men that tried to take me. But that James guy, he looked kind of cute. I can't be thinking this. My mom would kill me if I dated one of those guys. It would probably just get me into a lot of trouble if I dated anyone of them, but no matter how hard I tried I couldn't stop thinking of James.

    After three class periods it was time for lunch.  Since Emily didn't have the same lunch period as me, I sat at a table in the back of the cafeteria. I was eating my cheese pizza when four boys walked over.

    I quickly realized that they are Calvin, Gray, Leo, and James.  Why where they walking over here?

    "Hey, do you mind if we sit here with you?" James asked nicely.

    "No, I don't mind." I turned my head to hide the blush. Calvin, Gray, and Leo sit across from me. James sits right next to me. My blush depends even more. Why did he have to sit next to me? I continue eating my lunch while they talk. 

    "I need to get my grade up in Social Studies. My father will be very upset if I have a D+ on my report card." Gray says. Well at least they care about their grades. James's hand brushed against my arm and he rested his hand on my hand. My blush depended and I look at him. 

    "What's your name?" He asks me. 

    "Oh, my name is Belle. And you're James right?" 

    He smiles, "That's correct. Here's my number. Call me if you need anything."

    I take the piece of paper that he gave to me and I put it in my phone. I gave him my number, and then I go home. When I got home I went  to my room and started my homework.
