Ruby's POV
I was sitting at a table in a dining area, looking down at my basic meal, while my hands wandered around the hem of my shirt. I had been given chicken, potatoes and carrots, the meal topped off with a small amount of gravy. It wasn't exactly gourmet, but during my attempts at training I had worked up quite the appetite.
Steve was sitting across from me, his gaze seemed to be fixed on his food, but once in a while I would catch him glancing at me. The man named Tony Stark was also present, but he was messing with the coffee machine in the corner. I gingerly picked up my fork and tried to subtly start eating which, to the surprise of none, looked incredibly awkward.
"So, Miss Rose..." He began to say.
"Please just call me Ruby." I cut in, sounding harsher than I intended to.
"My apologies, Ruby." I could practically feel Tony roll his eyes. Not becuase I'm psychic or anything, it just seemed in character for him. I was still mad from when he yelled at me, but I'm not going to hold a grudge or anything... probably.
"So, as I was about to say, you appear to have a valuable skill set." Steve continued. "And we need to hunt down those people that sprung from the box with you, it's quite an urgent matter."
"Urgent? Have they been causing trouble?"
"Yes. There have been attacks on many areas, mainly caused by large shadowy monsters. We know this is their doing because in videos of these attacks we can see some of them, either helping in the destruction or sitting back and watching."
"Shadow creatures... do you mean the Grimm?" I asked, that's the only kind of shadow creatures I could think of.
"I'm not sure, that may be the case though if we're assuming they've come from your world. In any case, these things have been causing mass destruction, and we are having difficulty handling these situations. So we've decided that we should go for who we assume are the ring leaders, and we believe that your cooperation would be beneficial." He finished, looking at me expectantly.
"Beneficial for who exactly?" I asked, sure I wanted to help but maybe I could find information to help me get home. Or, better yet, actually get home.
"It could benefit both parties involved. We can get rid of our problem, and if we recover the box of Remnant, we may be able to get you home." That was what I wanted to hear, this alliance could get me home...
"Okay, I'll see if I can help you guys." I nodded my head in affirmation, and glanced at Tony who was watching us with a coffee in hand. He looked back at me, and nodded his head.
I'm not quite sure what that meant, but I'd like to think it was something to do with friendship.
Mercury's POV
The situation isn't looking so good...
Although we have the bumbling our side, and ready to obliterate the enemy, we weren't in a very good spot. For starters, the people of this world can kill Grimm easily, the only major inconvenience for them is the large number of beasts we've been deploying.
Then we have the fact that there is no dust in this world. Making our initial plans to create bombs and weapons of mass destruction using the resource null and void.
And, perhaps the biggest tragedy of all, Cinder can't control the box. Cinder has no idea what she's doing, and the box keeps failing us. She'd better figure it out soon... I don't want to baby sit blondie anymore.
But, if I'm supposed to look on the bright side... at least she's not bad looking.
A/N: Just a little chapter, sorry if it was boring. I needed a chapter to act as a bridge to them fighting together. So y'know, comment vote etcetera etcetera ^ω^
