Happy Reunion?

Ruby's POV

"Is that the last of 'em?" I asked, still in a combat position.

"If it was, we would be done with this." Agent Romonov called, she was running from the building she was in onto the main road.

"There's still a whole other section that needs cleared out." Steve announced, I responded with a groan.

"Well, we'd better start on that." I replied with a grin, it felt amazing to be back in the field again.

I used my semblance, launching myself upwards. After scanning the area, I located an Ursa that was lumbering down a street. I propelled myself towards it, readying Crescent Rose.

After rolling onto the ground, I sliced at the bear Grimm, but that wasn't enough to kill it. Now it was watching me, menacingly! But the great Ruby Rose would never back down because of a dirty look! I've squared of with Weiss before, this Grimm ain't got nothing on her!

I pointed my scythe at the beast, and aimed it right at it's head. I quickly pulled the trigger, and it dissolved into a red cloud of victory.

I turned around, ready to hunt down the next unlucky Grimm when suddenly I felt a flash of pain in my abdomen, and I was tossed back like a discarded doll. For a second, I just lay there in shock, but I quickly forced myself to recover, for stalling here could mean death.

As I stood up, I came face to face with the culprit, a suave looking red head.

Torchwick.

"Why hello there, Red, fancy meeting you- OH!"

I quickly shot at him, clearly surprising him. Brandishing my weapon again, I accelerated towards him, smacking his still reeling body down to the ground with Cresent Rose. I fell back, and observed him in a defensive stance, I couldn't beat up a man who had been knocked back... a hero wouldn't do that, right?

"If you're here, then who else is with you?" I demanded. There's no way he was sent alone, it just didn't work like that.

"Funny you should ask that, kid." Torchwick stood up slowly, what an old man. "Y'know, at the base you were hiding out at? Your hot-headed sister is currently storming it. Maybe you should go check it out, huh?"

"Wait, what? Yang? She's here? At the base?"

"Uh, yeah, I literally just said that, why'd you go and repeat it back at me?"

"Shut up, you'd better not be lying."

"I never lie." He was smirking, and walking straight past me. "She's desperate to see you, y'know."

He could be lying... he could be lying... could be... lying...

Without thinking I made my way back to the conveniently situated base. The Grimm attacks weren't happening that far away from it, so it wasn't a difficult trek.

I shouldn't believe him. But... I needed to. If Yang was here, then she might be alone. She needs me, I need her. So, there's no way I could ignore what Torchwick said, because I couldn't risk it.

I was already back... and the entire place was in chaos. There was fire, and gunshots and screaming. I rushed inside, to see ruined corridors. The ceiling was coming down, there were electrical sparks and it most definitely did not pass safety regulations.

I swallowed my fear and ran down the hallway, into the control room to find-

"Y-Yang?"

"Ruby!"

The blonde haired girl ran over and embraced me, and I let a few tears spill down my pale cheeks. I hugged her back, sobbing into her shoulder.

"Yang- I missed you so much!" I choked those words out between sobs, my entire body being crushed with the force of her hug.

"I missed you too..." She slowly let go of me, taking my hand in hers. "We need to get out of this place, God knows what they did to you..."

"W-Wait, what?"

"Don't worry about it, Emerald and Mercury told me all about what happened. That your here alone, and these sick freaks kidnapped you."

Wait, Emerald and Mercury..? "Yang, that's not-"

"No, we have to go."

"Yang-"

"C'mon."

"Listen to me!" I pulled my arm free from her grasp. "Yang... I'm not a prisoner, they're protecting me here, Emerald and Mercury... they're the bad guys.

"W-What?!"
