Blake's POV
I leapt over buildings, sliding down rooftops and holding onto drainpipes. This had better not be another false lead, I've had to deal with the disappointment too many times to count. I arrived at the place; a shady ally beside a nightclub which was practically bouncing off the ground with obnoxiously loud music.
She was there. This particular person had reached out to me and told me that she'd help me find Yang and Ruby, I couldn't resist that opportunity.
"Well? What do you know?" I demanded from the tall woman, her massive heels made her tower over me, but I wouldn't let that intimidate me.
"Don't push me around, it will only hurt your cause." Her hair was impossibly long - the black sheet of night flowed all the way down to her feet, her shoes seemed to be the only thing keeping her from tripping over it. It was adorned with golden coins and other similar ornaments, making her deep red eyes seem even darker. Her dress was long, with a slit up the side and a golden belt wrapped around her waist.
"I need to find my friends, do you know where they are?"
"Yes, I saw it."
"You saw them getting kidnapped?!"
"No child, I had a vision - it's my semblance." Then she explained everything, how they had been whisked away to another dimension by ancient magic, how they were trapped there and how they needed to be returned to their rightful lands.
"That seems far-fetched..." Blake didn't quite believe it, but she wouldn't ignore the possibility. She knew that they wouldn't just up and leave, they weren't the type.
"I assure you I am not lying, I came to you as I need to get them back here. This is a very dangerous situation and I need somebody close to them to help me get them out of there, along with the other fools."
"Why do you want to save them? What are you getting out of it?"
"Balance." She opened a door, it was made of cold steel, and inside was a dark room. "My little gang exists to protect the balance between worlds - we all work to make sure every different world coexists in harmony. Miss Rose wasn't even meant to be taken from this world, and neither was Miss Xiao Long, so we need to take them back here. I suppose we need to deal with the others, the ones that transported themselves there."
I followed her into the room, the strong scent of lavender assaulting my senses. "Fine, I'll do what I can to help you." I was hesitant, and I definitely didn't trust her, but if I could get back my friends it would be worth it.
"Excellent, come and meet my team." She led me into a slightly brighter room, in which quite a few people sat around in.
The first to speak was a woman wearing an orange bodysuit with a large gun at her hip. Her skin was tan, short red hair framed her face and made her blue eyes seem worlds brighter. "Hey, I'm Vermell. I remember my Beacon days..." Vermell shook her head.
"What? When you got kicked out?" Another girl chimed in. Her hair was blue and in a set of long twintails. She was wearing a heavy looking winter coat, with a pair of goggles on her head. She seemed to be missing an eye; though I couldn't be sure, I had just assumed that the eyepatch wasn't for cosmetic purposes. "My name's Maya, but you can just call me the real leader." Her tone was humorous, but her expression was empty - as if her face had indeed been frozen by the changing of a breeze.
"The child in the corner is Ida, she's our key to fixing this mess." The original women said. "My name's Kurva, ignore that fool I am the true leader." Ida had a bob of golden hair, and she was wistfully staring off into the distance; that distance, however, was a rug hung up on the wall.
"This is... wrong..." She muttered.
I looked around - I had gotten into a very weird place.
Ruby's POV
"Are you done yet?" I cried, leaning over Bruce's shoulder.
"No, Ruby, and I won't be for a while." He muttered, focusing on... whatever that was. He was trying to create a replica of whatever sent us here, and I was cheering him on. Until things got really boring, that was the case, but now I've been constantly muttering those dreaded words; how much longer? Or, some variation of that.
"I'll... go see what Yang's doing." He muttered something that resembled a 'bye', and I wandered through to her room. She was reading, which was a surprise because I had expected her to be beating up a punching bag or yelling or something.
"What're you reading?"
"I don't know, but it's the trashy kind of romance that Blake would love."
"Wonder what she's doing..." I always wondered what everyone else was doing; were they relaxing? Were they out having fun? Or were they joining weird suspicious cult-like groups? The world may never know...
"'Your scent is like a drug to me like my own personal brand of heroin.'" Yang received in an overly dramatic voice. "I'm no critic, but this is weird..."
"Where'd you get it from?" I asked, sitting next to her.
"Steve."
"That's... interesting..."
"Yeah..."
"Bruce is working on a way out for us, he'll be done soon."
"I'll believe that when I'm home."
I sighed and got to my feet. "Nice talking to you sis." I left and went back to the laboratory, at least there was some semblance of hope in there; Yang was all out.
