Katniss P.O.V.
"Willow, have you not lost that tooth yet?" I ask her.
"No, Mommy," Willow says as she continues to play with it.
Peeta looks up at her from across the table.
"You want me to pull it for you?"
"No, Daddy," Willow says. "That will hurt me."
"That's what you're supposed to do when you have a lose tooth, Willow," I tell her.
Willow shakes her head. "I'll just let it fall out of my mouth."
"Rye," I say as I look down at him. "Your sister is silly." Rye smiles at me, clearly showing off both of his new teeth.
"Rye didn't cry too much and it hurts more for your teeth to come in than it does for you to lose a tooth."
"Yeah," Peeta tells her. "And Rye's usually a wimp."
I scowl at Peeta from across the tale.
"Quit picking on him."
"It's true, Momma," Willow says. "I'm tougher than Rye is and I'm a girl."
I roll my eyes. "Okay. I'll admit that Rye is a Momma's boy. So what?"
"Nothing," Peeta says. "It just makes it easy to pick on him."
"Leave my baby alone."
"Huh-oh, Willow," Peeta says as he laughs. "We'd better stop or Momma bear will get us."
"Shut up," I laugh.
Willow gasps. "Daddy, Mommy said shut up." I roll my eyes.
Peeta smirks at me. "You'd better watch it. You're gonna get in trouble."
I shake my head. "Both of you be quiet and finish your breakfast. Rye may be a bit of a Momma's boy, but he's a good boy."
"Uh, Katniss," Peeta says.
"What?"
Peeta nods towards Rye, and I look down to see him playing in the syrup on my plate. Rye looks up at me and giggles as he chews on his sticky little hand.
"Seriously, little dude?" I say as I stand up with Rye.
"I thought you said that he's a good boy," Peeta tells me.
"He is a good boy," I tell him. "But Rye's also a baby who doesn't know how to keep his hands out of Mommy's plate."
Rye giggles again. "Come on, baby boy. Let's go get you celaned up and get that sticky syrup off you."
I carry Rye upstairs to the bathroom and sit him down in the sink.
"No," Rye says as he begins to fight me.
"I know, baby boy. You don't like the sink. But this is quicker than filling up the tub."
It takes me forever to finally get the syrup off of Rye, but he's a much cleaner and happier baby once I succeed in making him lesss sticky.
"Need help?" Peeta asks me as he walks into the bathroom.
"I think I got it," I say as I wrap Rye up in a towel to dry him off.
"You do know that we were just joking?"
"I know that," I laugh. "I was joking too."
Peeta smiles at me. "Want me to take him?"
"Here," I say to Peeta as I hold Rye out towards him.
"Come here, sticky," Peeta teases as he takes Rye from me. "Let's get you dressed, then I have to leave to go to work."
"Daddy!" Willow says as she comes running into the bathroom. "My tooth hurts."
"Well quit picking at it," Peeta tells her. "Why don't you just let me pull it?"
Willow pouts. "Okay," she whines. Peeta hands Rye back to me and helps Willow up onto the counter by the sink.
"Okay, Willow," Peeta says as he begins to wash his hands. "This will be over with before you know it."
Willow looks at me, and I smile at her. Willow opens her mouth, and Peeta pulls her tooth out before she even has time to realize what's happening.
"There," Peeta says as he holds the tooth up for Willow to see.
Her eyes widen and she pokes her tongue through the gap.
"It's gone!" Willow squeals.
"Yeah," Peeta laughs. "Why don't you wash it off and stick it under your pillow tonight?"
Willow looks at Peeta with a weird expression.
"Why, Daddy?"
"You'll see tomorrow," Peeta replies.
"Okay," Willow says happily. Peeta helps her down off of counter, and Willow takes off. I laugh as Peeta turns to face me.
"Please don't tell me that you're going to get her believing in the tooth fairy."
"No," Peeta laughs. "But that doesn't mean that she has to miss out on all of the fun."
I roll my eyes and look at Rye. "And Daddy thinks you're rotten."
"Alright," Peeta says as he wraps an arm around my waist an pulls me close to him. "I'd better go to work."
"Okay," I reply. Peeta leans down and kisses me on the lips.
"I love you," Peeta says.
"I love you too."
Peeta kisses the top of Rye's head and ruffles his hair.
"See you later, buddy." Peeta looks at me and smiles one more time before he leaves the room.
"Alright, little boy," I say as I begin to carry Rye over to the nursery. "Let's get you dressed."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~"Look what I got!" Willow squeals as she comes running down the steps.
"What did you get?" I ask Willow as I bend down to her height.
"I got a dollar!"
"You did?" I ask her.
"Yeah!"
I bite my lip. "Where'd you get it?"
"Daddy told me to put my tooth under my pillow and I did, and look!" Willow waves her dollar right in my face. I laugh a little.
"Yeah, Willow. I see it."
"Where's Daddy?"
"Upstairs changing Rye's diaper."
"Daddy!" Willow screams to the top of her lungs as she goes running up the stairs. I laugh at her and shake my head.
In a few minutes, Peeta comes down the stairs with a big smile on his face.
"What?" I ask him.
"Did Willow show you her dollar thie morning?"
I roll my eyes. "Yes. She did. Where's Rye at?"
"In his crib. I think Willow's reading a book to him."
"Awe," I say. "She's the sweetest big sister."
"Can you believe she'll be starting first grade?"
"I know," I sigh. "It's just a week away."
Peeta nods his head. "I'll probably take off from the bakery next week."
I smile. "She'll like that."
Peeta nods his head. "They're growing up too fast."
"Way too fast."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~The next chapter will be a time jump, but it will just be a few months. But, the next chapter will be a few years. I need some ideas.
I have two HUGE ideas that I hope y'all dont kill me for, but I need a few more
One of them I absolutely hate and I don't want to use it, but I feel like it will add some much needed drama for this story!
