Katniss P.O.V.
This is it, I think to myself. This is where Peeta's going to tell me that he doesn't want to be married to me anymore. He's going to say that I've hurt him too much, and he wants out. Peeta's going to ask for a divorce. I'm sure of it.
I stress out about it all day. Even as Rye lays in my lap fast asleep, I can't help but to worry. I carefully pick Rye up and carry him upstairs. I lay him down in his bed and walk through the house finding anything to do.
Anything I can straighten up, clean, or simply move to a different place.
The stress finally gets to me, and I'm hit with a dizzy spell. My knees give out on me, and I have to literally crawl over to the couch. I lay down and close my eyes, almost immediately drifting off.
I'm met with a nightmare. Of course.
The air is thick with the smell of smoke. I look out the window to see that there's a house on fire. No. Not just any house.
My heart drops, and I take off out the door. I'm almost there when I'm suddenly knocked backwards. I look up to see that nothing's there.
I carefully stick my hand out and touch some sort of invisible wall. It feels like glass, and it surrounds the house.
"No!" I yell as I bang my fists agianst the glass, trying to break it. "No!"
I can hear Peeta yelling for me, quickly followed by Rye crying.
"No!" I scream as I put everything I have into breaking that wall. "No! Please! My husband and son are in there! Please!"
"Katniss! Help!"
"Please!" I scream. "I have to get to them!"
The house crumbles, completely engulfed in flames.
"NO! PEETA! RYE!"
I gasp awake and sit up on the couch. I have tears rolling down my face, and my heart is racing.
I quickly go upstairs to check on Rye, and thank God he's okay.
I hear the car pull up outside, and I go running down the steps. As soon as the front door opens, I run over to Peeta and wrap my arms as tight around his neck as I can get them without choking him.
"Please!" I sob as I hide my face in his shoulder. "Please don't leave me! Please!"
"Katniss." Peeta pulls me back and cups my face in his hands. "What are you talking about?"
"You said that we need to talk, so I figured that meant that you had finally got tired of me and..."
"No, Katniss," Peeta interrupts. "Gosh. I didn't mean to worry you. Katniss, I didn't... That's not what I meant."
"You mean you don't want a divorce?"
Peeta gives me a look. "A divorce? Katniss, is that what has you so upset?"
I nod my head. "I worried about it all day. I dozed off on the couch and had a nightmare, and I... I..."
"Katniss, shh. It's okay," Peeta says softly as he hugs me real tight. "Kat, that's the exact opposite of what I was wanting to say to you."
I look at him. "What do you mean?"
Peeta sighs and pulls me back. "Come here," Peeta says as he leads me over to the couch. We sit down side by side, and I look over at Peeta. He takes a deep breath and reaches over to take my left hand between both of his.
"Katniss, listen, I know that I said I'd give you time," Peeta begins, "but honestly..."
"This is killing me," Peeta and I say at the same time.
