Chapter 21

Natalie's POV

The quiet, steady snoring awoke me from my sleep as I slowly opened my eyes before staring up at a ceiling covered in plastic stars and a moon. Quietly closing my eyes, the memories of last night quickly flooded back into my mind. I remember falling asleep on Aiden's shoulder, but I don't remember getting here. Somehow, I remember feeling like I was flying last night and the quiet hushed voice of Aiden. He whispered something into my ear just as I had woke up for a quick second to complain about something inaudible. Sighing, I gently shook my head while gently sitting up as I felt the restraint of something against my stomach. Peering down at my stomach, I noticed the familiar bronzed arm gently wrapped around it before I traced it back to its owner who was quietly snoring in the bed next to me. His once tamed golden brown hair was messy and spread out across his pillow as his face remained pointing in my direction.

"You're so innocent looking, Aiden." I stated while gently brushing away the strands of hair that covered his face. Quietly laying back down beside Aiden, I closed my eyes while sighing. "Aiden Sampson, sei una bella creatura. Per favore non lasci mai." (Aiden Sampson, you are a beautiful creature. Please don't ever leave.) I whispered as his grasp gently tightened around my stomach before I opened my eyes only to be met by the piercing gaze of Aiden's mahogany brown ones. "Good morning." I whispered, suddenly feeling shy as butterflies fluttered about in my stomach. Without saying a word, Aiden's gaze searched every part of my face before he met my eyes again.

"You are a beautiful woman, Natalie. I don't plan on losing you anytime soon." He announced quietly while slowly trailing a finger up my arm as the butterflies in my stomach only seemed to multiply. Did Aiden understand what I was saying?

"Nonna, possiamo andare a vedere sissy adesso? Per favore?" (Grandma, can we go see sissy now? Please?) The familiar voices asked in unison from somewhere down the hall as I quickly sat up while staring at the closed door.

"Finché sono in su. La colazione è quasi finita per poter svegliarti, bambini." (As long as they're up. Breakfast is almost done so you can go wake them up, children.) Was all it took before the stampede started up, quickly making its way towards the room we were currently in. I knew that this was going to happen sooner or later but I wasn't expecting it to be first thing in the morning. As if sensing my slight panic, a familiar hand grasped my hand before he sat up next to me. Smiling his way, I took a deep breath before the door slammed open as five children came hurtling in, obviously ignoring the fact that Aiden was in the bed with me. Quickly piling on my lap, I was greeted by a set of triplets, one preteen girl and a small boy who beamed happily.

"Zia! Sissy!" (Auntie! Sissy!) They chorused in cheerful tones as their dark brown eyes glistened with pure joy. "Stiamo andando alla spiaggia oggi? Possiamo andare? Vuoi venire a vedere la mamma e il papà? Chi è lui?" (Are we going to the beach today? Can we go? Are you going to come see mommy and daddy? Who is he?) They inquired all at once as I quietly held up my hand while silencing the children. As they waited for me to speak, the preteen stared at Aiden in questioning before glancing back at me.
