Chapter 31

A Few Days Later~

Quietly typing away on my laptop, I couldn't help the smile that began to spread across my lips. We're going to be moving in together soon. In a new house. I couldn't help but laugh a little at my excitement.

"I see somebody's in a good mood." Lucy stated while walking into my office with Valentina right behind her as I sighed in content while nodding. "Sorry for our lack of communication for three whole days. This upcoming event is kicking both of our asses." She added while taking a seat in the empty seating area before taking off her heels as she leaned back.

"Where's your little pregnant friend?" Valentina inquired while sitting across from Lucy as she too took off her heels. "Is she doing okay?" She added as I smiled her way.

"Stella and her boyfriend, Yuki, are preparing for their first child who seems to be making an early entrance. She went into labor last night, but the baby wasn't supposed to arrive until next month." I informed them as Lucy quickly sat up before clapping her hands together in excitement.

"Has she given birth yet?" Lucy asked as I shook my head while eyeing her sceptically. "Good. Good. Make sure your schedules for tonight are free. We're going to go see them because I'm sure Yuki might be losing his shit soon." She stated as I nodded in understanding.

"I'm up for it after I swing home first and freshen up. I want to see Aiden one more time before baby fever takes over." I stated while quietly laughing as both women gave me an assuring nod. "What about you two? Aren't you going to go see your husbands before it settles in?" I inquired as Lucy quietly laughed at me before laying back down.

"David and I already have two beautiful boys who are a handful on their own. We don't need another child. Having twins took care of my baby fever." She stated with a humorless laugh while turning over into the couch. "I'm just going to take a little nap here." She yawned out while curling into the couch some more before closing her eyes.

"For me, baby fever seemed to stay with me. After I had my oldest daughter, I thought that that would satisfy my baby fever because she was a mini me and I was okay with that but the fever struck again. This time, I had a handsome little boy. You think a boy and a girl would be enough but eventually my love for my husband was too much and we had a set of triplets. After that, I didn't have anymore baby fever. I didn't need it when I already had my little army." Valentina explained with a shrug as I quietly shook my head at her. "It might seem too early, but have you thought of having babies with Aiden?" She asked as I quietly leaned back in my seat.

"At times, I have but I also have to worry about Raigh-lee. She's only two and she hates being away from me. I'm still positive that she has my cellphone that's been missing for a few days now." I stated while looking over at my older sister as she gave me a warm smile.

"I think if you were to have another baby now, you'd be better prepared and more well supported than you were when you had Raigh-lee." She informed me with a sisterly look in her eyes. "It doesn't take long for a surprise to pop up when you least expect it." She added while taking off her jacket as she laid it on the table before laying down. "I'm just going to rest my eyes for a little bit." She stated as she too curled into the couch. Quietly sighing, I went back to typing up my reports.

Quietly knocking on the hospital door with some gifts in one hand, we waited patiently as the door creaked open slowly, revealing a tired but happy young man.

"Miss CEO, I'm glad that you could make it." Yuki stated as Lucy, Valentina, and I followed him into the room where Stella laid out on the hospital bed asleep. Beside her bed was the baby's bassinet where it laid wide awake, quietly searching the dim lit hospital room. "Isn't she beautiful?" He asked while standing next to us as we all watched the infant silently.

"She is. What did you two name her?" Valentina spoke up as I was still drawn to the infant. With one more look around the room and a stray yawn, she closed her eyes. For a minute, I felt this sting of some sort along my chest before the memories of me holding Raigh-lee in my arms while looking up at the starry sky flooded my memories. But, why now of all places?

"Natalie?" Lucy gently touched my shoulder as I came back to my surroundings. "Are you okay?" She inquired as Yuki and Valentina were both looking at me worriedly. Quietly taking a deep breath, I nodded but that didn't seem to convince the three of them. "Thank you for having us, Yuki. We'll stop by again to visit before you all get ready to leave the hospital. Make sure Stella eats well." Lucy stated while placing the gifts down by the door as Valentina and I did the same.

"Thank you and I will." He stated while Lucy gently grasped my hand before leading me out of the room with Valentina behind us. After she made sure that we were down the hall and safely out of earshot of any of the nurses, she turned and looked at me.

"I think I need to go see Raigh-lee." I stated before she even got the question out of her mouth. "All I saw were memories of the time I gave birth to her and left to Italy. I was a bad mother than. I wouldn't even hold or feed my own daughter." I stated as the tears slowly started to stream down my face before I felt Lucy and Valentina embrace me.

"You and I both know that it wasn't your fault. You had gone through a traumatic experience previously before Raigh-lee's birth and you needed time to recover. You needed time to realize that it was you and that little girl against the world." Valentina spoke as I continued to cry, the pain in my chest lessening.

"You needed time to realize that even though she was a part of him, she was also a part of yourself. You had us and your family behind you to take care of her while you went through your trauma. She still loves you as much as you love her, Nat." Lucy stated while rubbing down my curls. "I'll take you to go pick up your baby but after that, please take some time off and rest. I know something else has been bugging you." She added as I quietly nodded while wiping my eyes before Val handed me a baby wipe from her bag.

I say this a lot, but I feel like this chapter is a mess.

Anywho, hello to all! It's an update after so long to which I'm sorry for. I've had college finals the last week of July and the beginning week of August so I was busy. Then after I got out, I've been running errands almost every day of the week.

So, finally a well needed update.

A little spoiler alert for those of you who have been following along with this "series," I have been diligently working on Anna and Jasper's story. The second and last installments. Just the other day, I went back and read That Beautiful Mistake and certain things didn't add up nor made sense so I might be either re-editing or making a new version.
