Song of the chapter: Novacane by Frank Ocean.

ATTENTION: This chapter has drug references in it. If you are against it or might not approve at all, you don't have to read it. I'll post a recap at the beginning of the next chapter. You should know that Auden and I are not the same therefore I do not have her beliefs. You have been warned, thank you.

Chapter 8

...Novacane Nerds and Green Substances...

Getting back on to campus wasn't the hard part. Neither was convincing Donovan to skip the rest of his classes with me. Little did I know the hard part would be something so simple.

"A-Auden." He says rationally as I hold the substance in front of him. "Th-that's m-m-marijuana." He points out and I shrug. We had been sitting in an old, worn down, shady looking, record shop for about an hour now since his mother is stay at home and well, I hate my living arrangements.

This is something I'd never expect, and if you told me a week ago that I'd be sitting criss-cross applesauce in the dusty storage room of a record shop that smelled like nothing but Leo from That 70s Show, with a blushing nerd, and six bags of weed that we found in a box underneath Led Zeppelin albums, I'd report you to the nearest mental institution.

No first I'd laugh, then I'd get you serious help.

"Donny, you asked why Ryder was like that, I'll show you. It's not like I'm going to rape you, you big baby." I teased. This is what some may call peer pressure.

But I call it defying the rules. Rules are meant to be broken. I learned that from my idol and very first crush, John Bender. [1]

And if you don't know who that is, your teenage years sucked.

"Auden, seriously, we... We haven't even eaten lunch yet..." He tries to talk me out if it but I shake my head and recite a line from The Breakfast Club, my all time favorite movie.

"Well Donny, this is a very nutritious lunch." [2] I mock gesturing to the piles and piles of illegal drugs. I smile coyly and pat his hand. I take in his facial features once before sighing and raising my hands in defeat. "Fine, I won't make you. But I'm getting a little high whether you like it or not."

His eyes widened and he stared at the pile and then at me. Then he looked to the pile again. "You're not," he gulped. "You're not g-gonna sm-smoke all of that?" He said but it came out as more of a question.

I nodded and shrugged. The aching in my ankle was coming and going so I figured the weed could wash the pain away. His coffee-colored eyes bulged out of their sockets and he shook his head.

"Auden. Wh-what if we get caught?" He asked blushing as I pinched his cheek.

I shrugged. "We'll call it peer pressure. I'll take the blame. It's nothing I haven't dealt with before."

And then the dreaded question.

"What about your p-parents?" He asked hesitantly and instantly my jaw clenched.

I balled my fists and glared at the floor angrily. Taking a deep breath, I looked into his eyes and said, "I don't have parents."

He tilted his head to the side and furrowed his eyebrows, I was tempted to hug him due to the fact that he was just sitting there looking like a lost puppy. He surveyed me before parting his lips but not saying a word.

He just... Too cute when he's confused.

Don't think like that.

"B-but I met... Your dad." He stuttered out.
