Why can't I ever let go?
Why do I hold on to all I know?Everything I've seen, everything I've heard
Whether it be heavy as a brick or light as a birdEven when it hurts me I cling tight
Unwilling to let go, lest I cease to fightWhy do those who hurt others so
Never understand what it's like to let go?Poison people, poison words
Poison spat at those who try to fly like birdsPoison lives within us all
Yet for most of us, we don't let it fallYet those who do, we cling on tight
Liking the pain, liking to fightAnd yet, fighting brings pain
Pain doesn't help anyone to gainOr does it do what we don't think?
We flirt with Death, we stand on the brinkAnd yet, not many let go of the edge
We cling on tight, fearing to let our fingers slip from the edge
Yet in the end, others always cry.
And in the end, we all die.
