Birthday boy turns 16 today
The wait is over, its time to play15 years he lived alone
Watching the world with a heart of stoneWaiting and watching, using the masks
For he knew /they/ were up to the tasksBut in the year before being 16
He made a choice, he changed the sceneHe found a girl, and she found him
They became unlikely friends, a chance quite slimAnd now today it's the girl who writes this
A poem full of sorrow and blissShe writes to him of hopes of laughter
Not worrying or wondering what comes afterAnd so she smiled and gives him this gift
In hopes of helping him be no longer adriftThe words she speak will always ring true
The simple words of "I love you."And so she wishes him a happy day
A day full of love, laughter, and play___________________________________
