Chapter 34 | Battle of the Rivals
I fluttered my eyes open to the bright morning light. Tonight was senior night for the boys on the football team. I promised Ray that I would make him a poster, and I stay true to my promises.
"Jade!" Shane called, running into my room.
I groaned at all the noise he was making.
"Oh, you were still asleep?" he asked.
I chuckled. "I just woke up."
"Well, get up! Tonight is senior night!" he announced quite loudly.
"Shane! You're going to wake up the entire neighborhood," I shushed him.
He shook his head. "The entire neighborhood is going to watch me play anyways."
I nodded my head. He was right, every time there was a local football game, the entire block would come and support the players. Tonight was one of those critical nights for Ridgewood. We were playing against Courtside High, our rival.
Also known as Logan, my ex's, team.
He was currently second in the state for defensive tackle. It was a great accomplishment, honestly. I was proud of him for accomplishing his goals. When we were together, that's all he could think about, and now he's finally got it.
My fear for tonight was that Ray or Logan was going to start something up and everything would just end up messy.
Trust me, I do not want to be in that sticky situation.
"Are you making me a poster for tonight?" Shane asked.
I nodded. "Only if you want one."
"Hell yeah, I want one! Is that even a question?"
I laughed at his remark. "Fine, I'll be ready in a few so we can get stuff to make them."
"Them? Who else are you making one for?" he asked.
"You're not the only senior I know, Shane," I chuckled.
"Ray?" he asked.
I nodded. "And James."
Shane groaned. "Do you really think making one for James is a good idea?"
I shrugged. "He's still my friend, plus Ray and I talked about it. James is not a threat to our relationship."
"Relationship." Shane cringed at the word.
I laughed at his disgusted face. "Alright, now get out, I'll be ready in a few."
He walked out of my room quickly for me to get ready for the day.
After showering and putting on my makeup, I was finally ready to go. I slipped on a gray sweater and jeans since it was freezing outside. No matter how long I lived in Ridgewood, I never got used to the cold.
"Shane! I'm ready!" I announced, closing the door to my bedroom.
"I'm down here!" he shouted.
I hurried my way over to the dining table where some art supplies were scattered out.
"I grabbed everything I could find. We're a little short on poster paper and some other stuff, though."
I nodded my head and looked through everything we had already. "This looks good. We can stop at the mall to pick up some other stuff."
He nodded his head and grabbed his keys.
My phone suddenly vibrated in my pocket, it was a text from Ray.
