Aces' P.O.V.
I open my eyes to a familiar sight of the rough bark of the tree I slept by, letting out a soft yawn my eyes dart around making sure nothing was nearby. The sounds of the woods comfort me, almost promising that it was safe for me to walk out from my spot, so I took the chance to stand and step into the sunlight. A sigh escapes my lips and a warmth spreads across my chest.
'Good morning Ace' a soft voice greets me in my head and I cannot help the smile that appears after hearing the voice.
"Good morning Violet" my voice reaches my ears as raspy and I make my way slowly to the river, admiring the flowers beginning to bloom and the greenery more vibrant than ever. I breath in deeply and the sweet smell of wildflowers and the crisp scent of the river relaxes me as I find my way to the bank of the flowing river. I drink the cool river water, making sure to keep an eye on my surroundings between every mouthful.
Sighing in content I lean back, putting my feet into the cool river as I allow the sounds of nature take over my senses. My eyes snap open as everything suddenly silences and I slowly take in my surroundings once more, but this time for a means to escape.
'Ace, look to the left. Whatever's disturbed this place is towards the right. You should be able to scale the tree near us.' Violets voice speaks softly as I look at the tree she spoke of and I dash towards the tree. I leap up to the strongest looking limb and scale the tree until I am sure I am hidden.
I crouch down on a thick limb and watch silently, waiting for anything to pop out and attack, yet a small white bird appears from the bush and I sit dumbfound as the bird walks to the river and drinks the water as if it was the most normal thing in the world. I blink before silently climbing down the tree to investigate the creature.
It seemed to notice me when I came into the light, but it was fearless as it inspected as obviously as myself. We both sit in silence before it walks over to me and I can't help but tense up as the creature nears me, and it simply holds its foot out to me and I giggle softly. Unable to contain the smile I offer my hand to the bird and it stepped onto my hand.
"Marshy?" Its' voice came out as a question as it gave a closer look at me and I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion.
"I am not a 'Marshy' you odd little bird" I say softly
"I am." It spoke back defiantly and I can not help but be taken aback by this animal.
'It seems like you made a new friend Ace, lets' keep it.' Violet says, seeming to smile in my head.
"Well you, uh, Marshy. We are now friends." I say as firmly as possible and the bird simply stares at me
After a moment of sitting and staring at each other I stood with Marshy on my hand and decided to find myself food, not wanting to waste sunlight on a little beast. I soon come across a small blueberry bush and grin happily. I start to pick some with my free hand but soon notice the beast was eating off the bush as I tried to pick the berries.
"You little monster, you should wait for me to get some too" Yet the beast continues to fill itself up with the berries, seeming to ignore what I say to it. I shrug and gather as much as I can before looking up at the sky, noticing that the sky was starting to go to sleep.
'Let's go back to the tree Ace, not safe here when the moon is out' Violets voice spoke softly to me and I nodded in agreement before standing with my berries and the beast.
"Time to show you where I live Marshy" I say happily, walking to the large tree I claimed as mine. The bird seemed interested in it as I huddle near a large root. The beast soon stepped onto a nearby root and closed its eyes.
"Goodnight beast" I giggle as I let sleep take me away.
