James P.O.V
I wake with a slight start, my mind still as sullen and silent as ever. I blink away tears that threaten to spill and a sigh escapes my lips, silence like a cancer seems to grow in my head. My wolf, Bone, hasn't spoken to me in two years, I can shift to his form, yet I don't feel his strength with me. Running the pack is harder now respect is scarce for me, my beta is more respect than myself because I didn't wait for my Luna. I regret sleeping with Jasmine, I truly do but I cannot change that night or many nights after.
I throw my legs over my bed and my feet touch the cool hardwood floors, a shiver runs up my spine as I stand. My room is still as bleak as ever, gray walls seem to stare back at me as I make my way to the black dresser my mother chose for me. Half of the dresser remains empty, I still await my mate I still have some sort of hope that she would take me. The memories of Jasmine finding her mate and being rejected because of me still echos in my head and makes me flinch. I ruined a life for her, and now she thinks she has to be my Luna because of it.
I shake my head to rid myself of those thoughts as I quickly dress myself in black pants and a white shirt. I walk downstairs to an empty kitchen and I sigh softly, wishing my mother would forgive me. Hoping I wouldn't be forever shunned by my blood, I pour myself a simple bowl of cereal and eat alone in the silence that seems to hunt me.
After cleaning the dishes from my breakfast I step out into the humid morning air and I wear a blank mask as I walk through my pack, people glance at me and quickly bow their head towards me, but I don't really notice as I make my way to the forest. As I roam deeper into the forest I breathe in deeply, the trees sway gently in the wind and the leaves dance with each step I take.
Suddenly I feel a sharp pain in my head as my wolf suddenly makes an appearance to guide me to a fast flowing river where the faint scent of something lingers. This spikes an interest with my wolf as he wants to follow it and I simply let him guide me to a white bird that seems to be glaring me down.
"Hello little guy-" I'm cut off but a loud scream from the creature that looks horribly offended.
"My bad, I mean hello little girl. What are you doing all alone out here?" I speak softly to it, trying to gain its' trust to let me see what was under the tree. The bird growls lowly at me as I extend my hand to it and I furrow my eyebrows in confusion. It was so aggressive, maybe it wasn't a lost pet like I originally thought.
"Marshmallow?" A soft feminine voice calls out and the bird glares at me again before opening its wings and vanishing from my sight, making me frown in confusion.
"Ah, there you are pretty girl" The voice spoke again with a hint of happiness now, the wolf stirred in my head once more and the scent finally hit me. It was a rouge scent, but something about it made the wolf happy.
'It's her. Mate.' The voice of Bone echos in my head and I gulp nervously not ready to meet her, not ready to tell her how I betrayed her .
"Here have some berries." Her voice was so gentle, so smooth. I sit there trying to think about how to approach the situation, the wolf now pacing in my mind. He wanted his mate, but she was a rouge. I growl softly in frustration, feeling such conflict in my own head overwhelmed me.
Suddenly I made up my mind and I felt the wolf go silent once again. I quietly got closer to the voice only to see a girl with the white bird sitting happily on her hand. The girls red hair was long and matted, her skin seemed dirty but so soft, but her eyes captivated me the most. A stunning vibrant blue color only made me wonder more about her, how she ended up here.
"Stop rogue" My voice came out as rough and harsh making her jump in fear, the bird starts to hiss at me again as I show myself to her. She stares at me in shock before backing herself up onto the tree, her petite frame shaking violently.
"I-I am not h-hurting anyone" her voice now full of fear reaches my ears and my wolf snarls at me angrily for scaring his mate. My eyes narrow at her and I growl lowly, my fangs now elongating as my eyes turn black.
She watches me with large, fearful eyes as I approach her. I shoot my hand out and grab her arm roughly ignoring the sparks I feel when I touch her.
"You're mine rouge." I speak down to her as she shakes violently, I feel a sharp pain on my hand and I let her go quickly to see the bird with my blood on its beak. I growl and lift my hand to hit it but her hand hit mine away quickly and she growls at me.
"Do not touch her" her blue eyes flash to a golden color as she growls lowly at me. Her wolf would not let me touch the little beast and I scoffed. Such weakness for an animal.
"If you come with me I won't touch the animal. I swear it" I say firmly to her and she narrows those beautiful eyes at me.
"Fine" She says softly, petting the bird gently to calm it. I begin to walk back to my back and I hear her light footsteps behind me. She was whispering to the animal and as we walk into my pack, people stare at us. Mostly at her though, a female rouge was uncommon and she was a sight with a white bird on her shoulder.
I lead her down to the dungeons where my guard look at her with pity as she stares blankly at the stone floor under her bare feet. I growl at them and they look away as I guide her to her cell.
"Welcome home rouge." I growl as I shove her into the cell, I stare for just a moment as she curls into a corner but turn away with regret now in my heart.
"You feed her once a day. Make sure you have extra food and water for her animal." I say to a guard who nods stiffly at my instruction. I stalk out of the dungeons with my wolf silent once again, I walk to the pack house with my heart now heavy. I walk into the pack house that silences at my entrance, even the children at play were silent. I cringe and walk to my office, where as soon as I close the door I break out in tears.
