Chapter 16: New Alpha

Aces P.O.V.

   
     I sigh softly in content as the rushing river that slices through the Golden Moon territory fills my mind with an ease I'm only now accepting. My attention is stolen by a young beast that plays rather loudly in the toy Reed got for her. He knew to get one that had all the bells in the world for her. Jay rests nearby, not wishing to face the wrath of Marshmallow who would certainly be unsettled by his sitting too close.

  Much has happened in such a short time and I can often feel Violet still pacing my mind in deep thought. A howl interrupts my peace and I glace at Jay who nods at me. I quickly get my beast and walk beside Jay to the pack house. Liz also catches up with us and we nod to each other in greeting.

  "How's your stress doing now Liz?" I question softly, knowing the stress of the pack was getting to her now and it wasn't good for her future pup. Her belly was slightly rounded as her pregnancy progresses, apparently us wolves only stay pregnant for about six months. Shes been pregnant for two months and the pack couldn't be more overjoyed at the potential a pup could bring with all the change that happened.

  We speak of silly matters for the remainder of our walk to the meeting at the pack house, which is lively with members of the pack smiling and bowing their heads towards us. I notice new members, young men and women who were made rouge by circumstance, and some by James. A young pup runs to us, holding out a purple panting to me and a pink one to Liz. "Here Luna, I wanted you to have the prettiest one!" The pup says in a sweet voice and Liz face lights up with joy. "Thank you so much, I promise I will put this one on my wall because of how beautiful it is" Liz says with a smile making the pup gasp and smile before running away towards her mother who waves kindly at us.

  I look at the purple painting of a butterfly weaving through yellow and pink flowers and smile. I glance at Liz who is still waving at the pup, and then I turn my attention to Jay and show him the picture.

"Isn't it cute?" I ask as his face softens at my comment "It is, we have an blossoming artist in the pack" He says as he studies the painting, gently placing a hand on my shoulder. "Seems that way" I say, finding comfort in his touch. Violet wakes slowly and silently greets his own wolf. Before we even decided to try to be friends our wolves seemed to attach to eachother, as our mates weren't going to come back to us. Jay smiles warmly at me and gestures to the meeting that was beginning.

Reed stands as proud Alpha of our pack, Liz now at his side as his Luna. Jay and I make our way to the stage as Beta female and Beta male, standing beside the pair who smile to us in greeting. "I wish I could say I have good news for you all, but as of now we are at war with the BloodPaw Pack. James will not rest until he gets Ace and destroys this pack." His words silence the pack who knew all too well that things would have to change

  I look at Jay who is growling lowly at the mention of James, I turn my attention to the pack and step foward, the pack all turning their worried gazes to me, " You don't have to worry much, I've trained with you all and I know our pack is stronger than any other pack thay crosses us. We will have to train a little more but we can do it, we can win this and never have to fight with them again" The pack ponders this and erupts into a cheer and Reed nods a silent thanks.

I look at Jay though who stares at me in pride but I also see the worry in his face. Violent whines at having to fight the BloodPaw Pack and I sigh softly as I hold onto James hand. Its going to get really scary soon, and I don't know if I can take it yet.
