Chapter 5: Jasmine

Ace P.O.V. 

  I wake up to a large black wolf cuddled next to me and memories of last night flood back, making me smile. I yawn softly and stretch out my sore limbs, then I look over to my sleeping bird and sigh softly happy she was still there. 

'Ace, you should probably keep what happened last night a secret.' Violets soothing voice enters my head and I nod silently in agreement. Last night something weird happened to Marshmallow and me, I close my eyes and sigh softly. 

Flashback

I held Marshmallow close to me chest and sob softly as the boys leave the room, closing the door behind them. The beast looks up at me and places her head on my nose gently, her eyes closed and her breathing softening as the seconds pass. My heart beat quickens and I silently swear to hate the James boy forever. The pain in my heart worsens as Violet seems to stir in my head, and she realizes what happened and what was going on.

'Ace? What happened to the little beast?' Her normally calm voice now full of panic and pain. In the short time we've known the bird she had become family. Violets gentle sobbing echos in my head along with my own cries.

"Marshmallow you have to come back, s-so you can bite him in the face" I say slow, my crying made it hard to speak but the words come out as rough and slightly unintelligible. I close my eyes a gently kiss her beak, a tear falling on her beautiful white feathers.

We sit in silence for a moment before a soft golden light caused me to open my eyes, Marshmallows limp form was emitting the gentle glow and I stared at her in shock. She doesn't move for a moment before her eyes snap open and she lets out a defining screech. I cry out in joy and hug the bird, who nuzzles her beak into my hair.

Soon after the door slams open and my little beast escapes my grip, landing right on James' face.

End of flashback 

I blink away the tears forming in my eyes and shake my head to rid myself of the memory. I open my eyes to see the wolf staring at me intensely before moving his giant head closer to me and gently licking my cheek, making me laugh softly and scratch his head gently. 

"I wish James was like you Bone, maybe I would like him too" I say to Bone and I gently kiss his nose. 

"You can't force him to be hidden forever, you should turn back into James so he can do his work" I say while looking out the window, to the forest that sways gently in the wind. The wolf whines at me and gently tugs on the borrowed shirt I wear. 

"You want me to follow you?" I ask to make sure it was what he wanted and he nodded his giant head at me. I nod back in understanding and open the door to my room. Marshmallow makes a small sound and I offer my hand to her. She jumps onto my hand and climbs to my shoulder, making herself comfortable. I follow Bone out the door and through the house, and soon we make it to the first room I saw and the people stared at Bone and me in shock. 

He lets out a loud, powerful growl making the people look away quickly but it doesn't stop their whispers. I open the front door and he steps out, lifts his snout into the air and suddenly takes off running. I stand there for a moment and look at my little beast who has her large wings open. I smile and run after him, into the forest I called my home. 

I laugh as I feel the wind whipping through my red locks and the earth under my naked feet. I couldn't help but feel free again, sure bath time is fun and all but this was what I lived for. We ran until we reached my river and I stopped, looking at the flowing water calmed my heart and soothed my mind. I sighed softly and sat by the river, and soon Bone was at my side watching the river with me. 

I lean onto Bones strong form and smile sadly, knowing this good time would come to an end. I gently run my fingers through his thick fur and gently play with his ears. 

"You should turn back into James, he's gonna be mad." I speak with sadness laced in my voice, I honestly didn't want him to change back but it would be wrong to be selfish, no matter how badly I wanted to be. 

He looked at me for a long time before nodding his head at me and placing his forehead to mine, a silent promise to return, and turning away from me to walk behind a tree. After a loud cracking sound and a shuffle of clothes, James appears in front of me and sneers at me. 

"I can't believe you had me stay with you this long, I don't care if you're his mate. You'll never be anything to me" He spat out harshly, making me flinch and Marshmallow started to hiss at him. He growled at her and she opened her wings, her form seeming bigger. He growled softly before walking away, I let a tear fall as he leaves me sitting by the river. 

'Are you okay Ace?' Violets voice floods my racing mind and I whimper in reply. She sighs in my mind and a sharp pain races across my chest making me cry out loudly. I stand and stumble towards the house I came from, I gasp as another pain floods my body making me fall. Marshmallow screams loudly and stays near me, she looked like she panicking . 

Reed runs out of the house and towards us, I scream out and curl up into a ball as the pain once again floods my system. He tries to touch me but the beast won't let him, I stand up slowly and stumble into the house. People stare at me in shock, seeming to know what was wrong me but not speaking to me. I slowly make my way upstairs and open the first door I saw. 

It was a mistake as I saw James on top of a girl, sweating and moving his lower half quickly. He seemed to freeze and look back at me but I already saw too much. A pain comes from my chest and tears run down my face. I knew he was mating her, Violet explained it to me about two years ago. I thought he was supposed to be with me? I felt confused as someone behind me grabbed my arms and growled loudly at James. 

"This is why the pack lost respect for you James! This is why you don't deserve her as your Luna, and why you lost Bone" Reed growled out from behind me as he guided me away from the scene, I was in complete shock as he brought me to my room. 

"Ace, hey girl look at me" Reed tried to get a reaction out of me but everything was numb, I couldn't feel anything. James ran into the room and stared at me for a moment. I felt Violet stir but I couldn't stop her from doing anything. 

"Leave." Her voice flowed through me, full of betrayal and hate. James stared and Reed was gone, he must have left I didn't even notice. A girl walked past him, I soon realized it was the girl he was mating. She looked me up and down before spinning around to face James. 

"It's a good thing I will be your future Luna, this pathetic shrimp wouldn't make it" Her voice made Violet growl in my head and I just stared at her. James reached to grab her shoulder but she moved away quickly. 

"Jasmine, just leave her alone" His voice was weak, making Violet angrier. The girl came closer and sneered at me, and soon she touched my shoulder. Violet snapped and I suddenly lost control. Violet grabbed her hand and crushed with with my own, she stood using my body and growled down at Jasmine. 

"Disrespect Ace again and I won't hesitate to kill you" Her voice was full of anger and outrage. Jasmine was screaming in pain and James didn't make a move to stop me, she soon bared her neck in submission to me and we let her crumble to the floor. 

"Leave!" Her voice boomed out, making them both scramble out of the room. I soon felt Violet fading back and my control being restored. I sniffled and Marshmallow climbed onto my leg, she looked up at me and put her beak to my hand and made a soft kissing sound. I smiled weakly at her and picked her up. I curled onto the bed and cuddled the bird. I feel so confused.
