My head throbbed with pain. I lay on the bed of the intermarry, a nurse flipped through a medical spell book, desperately trying to search for something.

"Tell me child, what exactly happened."

In my head I started re-picturing the event as I dived into telling her. It was best if I told her from he beginning. "Well, we went to see the Eternal Mirror, and when we were leaving the place, I felt something coming from the mirror. I can't describe what is was, I am not familiar with the proper word for it..." I got unsure for a moment. I remembered seeing something black coming out from the Mirror, it was like smoke, but it wasn't smoke at the same time. It was too thick, almost solid form.

"Miasma?" She guessed for me.

"Yes. I think it was that..." I tried to picture again I have seen in my head again. "It came out from the Mirror and attacked me. It got my legs and pulled me into the water of the pond. I was hopeless. I couldn't swim. I tried to struggle out of its grasp but to no veil I couldn't hold my breath any longer, I passed out."

"And then Kai saved you right?"

I brows creased and shook my head. "What? No. That jerk? Hmps. It was a merman who saved me. Kai was just there, he came late to save me. If it weren't for the Merman, I would have drowned and been dead."

"It's not my fault you couldn't swim." A camisole voice said and Kai stepped out from behind the curtains.

"You..." I glared at him.

He gazed down at me, as if I was annoying insect. "Is there any sign of miasma in her system?" He looked at the chubby nurse.

She shook her head looking up from the small pocket sized notebook. "No sign. She is as healthy as she can be."

Kai adjusted his classes which slipped down to the button bridge from his nose. "Well then, I will be taking her with me. Follow me Miss Hawekings."

"What? Why?"

"I said follow me." I jumped off the bed, thanking the nurse for checking on me, and rushed after the jerk. I know it was too early to call him jerk for throwing a tower into my face but I can't help it. The guy just gives of this really arrogant aura which I do not like.

We went through the halls and then outside to the back garden. We passed my training ground. "Where are we going?" I asked as we were heading closer to a corner which led back to the entrance.

He turned right into the opposite direction and stood before two trees. "After you."

"..." I wanted to ask where was I suppose to go, but I knew it would make him even more annoyed with me and would probably cause us to bite at each other's head. He pushed a bush away and I was greeted with stairs curling down somewhere.

I went down, and Kai followed behind me. His cold stare burning into the back of my head. At the bottom of the stairs there was a wooden door, with elegant twirling high -relief patterns in the wood.

The door swung open by itself as if its new of our arrival. "Welcome to the Gentry House!" A girl exclaimed extending one of her free arms into the interior of the house. She was so open and welcome....I felt kindness radiating from her.

"Hi...." I said wearily.

She pulled me in and started pushing me towards the living room. Three other people were occupying the living room. There were two big sofas and one single seat. There was a glass tea table in the middle. At the far there was a terrace, looking out to the sky and clouds.

"Let me introduce you to the rest of the Gentries. The girl you see reading outside her name is Beatrix Goldings. She is a total bookworm and author."
