Zoe attacked me with a huge hug when I turned up at their door steps. I never felt so overcome by a feeling I never experienced it warmer up my heart and made me feel at ease.
The rest of the members signed with relief that they managed to convince me to become a Gentry students.
"Oh we must celebrate! We must!" Zoe chimed and disappeared to the far right corridor.
"Please somebody go after her before she burns down the whole kitchen...." Beatrix massaged her forehead, in worry.
"I'll go." Alexander offered.
Beatrix nodded at her then her green eyes looked at me. "I didn't think you would eventually give in. I apologize if we were being very pushy about this all. The thing is that the Midnight's Winter is coming up and we are in our last year; it has been a tradition that by the end of the year the Gentry students are made up of 5 members.
"Oh. I still don't feel like I belong with you guys." I admitted sheepishly.
Tom jumped off from the armrest of one of the sofas and wave a dismissive hand at me. "Nonsense."
"Lady Saphire you will have to double up on your fighting skills now that you are part of us," Kai appeared out of nowhere at the stairs. He was wearing a black vest under it a white shirt, with black matching trousers and shiny, polished shoes. "We will be going on missions helping the King, and his people."
"Missions?!" I nearly shouted. No one said about doing missions! I thought being a Gentry student was all about being Head boy and Head girl in a school; helping students below you and organizing events and such. No one said about doing freaking missions!!!
"Yes. Missions." He gave me a scroll of paper. I opened it and read, while he continued . "We will be going tomorrow morning to Karthissa a small village near the North. We were assigned to look into some mysterious dissapearence of infants and children."
"Don't tell me there's trafficking here too!" My hands flew up to my cheeks at the thought of the poor innocent souls.
They all looked at me puzzled. "Traf...ficking?" Beatrix and Tom looked at each other. It was obvious they weren't familiar with the word.
My flicked my wrist, "Never mind."
Kai adjusted his glasses and spaced before me. "As I was saying, we will be going there, tomorrow. You should get all of your warm-clothes ready." I imagined myself banging my head into a bark of a tree, because I had no freaking winter clothes anywhere! I was still wearing my uniform and I still had the clothing they abducted me in. "You should also bring two swords—three in case anything happens to the other two. If a certain individual, like Tom, would loose his sword and you would need to land it to him..." Tom got a cold glare from Mr Brain. The other got just ignored it. I guess something like that happened in the past... or maybe every single time they went on missions.
"Alright. And will I need fighting gear ?"
Kai shook his head. "Only if it's comes down as a last resort. But do not worry about that. The simplest gear would you need are gloves and maybe ski glasses as there a possibility that we would be greeted with a snow blizzard."
I noted that in my head. I could just ask Amanda for ski glasses. She must have some. Talking about Amanda, I haven't seen here this week. She would always wait for me at the front of the cafeteria but this week she wasn't nowhere. Absent, as if the air just swept her up and no sign of her. The teachers were asking me as well were on Earth she could be. I was getting so worried about her. I hope she was alright. I told myself that maybe she had some family stuff to attend to.
