Six Ways of Looking at Rope

Having a summer fling on a rope swing,

The swooshing and whooshing, the epitome of joy.

Saving, rescuing, life- keeping,

A rope stops the drowning feeling as water finds its way into your lungs, stealing the space of oxygen.

It can get you higher in the way of a ladder,

Life can always get higher and better but it hurts when you fall.

The excitement of the leap of faith,

Building your confidence and individuality but there to catch you when you fall.

The aspect of adventure is always in it;

Many a child goes with a rope to swing across a jungle, or climb the rigging of a ship but back for tea.

However, there is also the punishment of death.

The end when it bends around your neck and you drop.

The

     rope

           not

               there

                         to

                                 save

                                             but

                                                   to

                                              MURDER
