"And then the Jedi and my people fought together to beat the Galactic republic to its knees freeing my people on Ryloth once again...". Cham Syndulla finished slamming his half beaten to death blaster against the table, frightening the life out of the two children sat in the room. "Frightening the kids again father?" A cheerful voice grinned as a tall young lady walked into the room.
Cham grinned "no I'm just giving them a leg up about what's in the galaxies that's all."
The lady laughed "well I'm out in the galaxies everyday and while I have seen Ewoks and Akuls, and just about every type of bug you could ever imagine...I have never seen a Jedi." Cham, as usual had beg to differ with his daughters statment, "now Hera just because you don't see something doesn't mean it's not there". Hera, as usual, was quick with her witty and confident replies "and just because you say it's true doesn't mean it is dad," she smirked.
"Ooh..." the youngest child Dawn called from the floor before getting the death stare from her mum. "Kai, Dawn, why don't you two go and wait in the Ghost why a finish up here," Hera muttered to them. Kai did not need to be told twice he stood up and walked towards the door, but the youngest needed a bit more persuading. "But mum..." whined the little girl. Hera gave her a stern look "now Dawn." Dawn sighed as she stood up and followed her older brother out of the room.Hera sighed and took a seat at the table her father was at. "I'm going to stop them coming here if you're going to carry on like this."
"Like what?"
"You know what! All this Jedi nonsense I don't want them knowing any of it." Hera at this point was 'having a loud conversation' with her father although she tried to keep it quiet enough that the kids could hear. "But my Hera," Charm started "the Jedi were brave and powerful."
"And look where that got Kanan!" Hera snapped to Cham, which she immediately regretted as she put her head it her hands. Cham put his hand on her arm "Hera, these kids have Jedi in their blood you're going to have to tell them one day." Hera shook his hand off and stood up "well that's not going to be today," she answered sternly as she walked out of the room and back toward the Ghost.Hera walked back on the Ghost to hear the sounds of yelling and banging. She rushed to see what all the commotion was about only to realise that I was just another argument between Dawn and the grumpy astromec Chopper. "Chopper open this door now!" she yelled as she banged on the metal door while listening to the droids mischievous beeps from behind. Hera came over "Chop open the door." Either Chopper did not want to mess with Hera or he had finished whatever mischief he was causing as the door to the room sprung open and the cranky astromec whizzed out running over Dawn's toes as he did. However, Dawn quickly responded by slapping his metal head. As everyone was, Dawn was fond of the astomec droid however, like everyone else she preferred it when he didn't get into her own business. Hera sighed as they both walked into the bedroom "come on let's find out what he's done." The two searched the room. Hera walked over to a small lamp on the bedside table that had recently been put it. She moved the lamp across only to reveal a small painting of a phoenix behind it. Most of the painting on the walls had warn off by now but clearly Sabine had used some kind of special paint on this one. Hera dred to think what could have been in it at as there it sat high and dry several years on. "Well I don't think he's done too much damage," Dawn started as she started to climb the ladder up to the bunk. "I think you're right," Hera responded quietly walking toward the door "although he does have a tendency to remove bolts from bunks, so watch out for that." Hera stepped out the room as the door started to close. "Wait what!" Dawn exclaimed but she was silenced by the door. It was hard enough to get Dawn to go to bed without her asking about all the trouble Chopper used to get himself into.
Hera was halfway down the corridor to the cockpit when her com link started to flash. "Captain Syndulla...can you here me?" A voice called though the com link. "Loud and clear General, what's the situation?" She replied.
"It's the base...it been broken into...supplies...are gone...and we need...ahhhh no!" The transmission turned crackly and ended with gunshots. "General? General!" Hera yelled in the com link but there was not reply. "What's happen?" A voice asked behind her. Hera spun round quickly to see Kai stood outside his room with a book clenched in his hands. "Kai you scared me you sounded just like...never mind. Listen there's been a complication at one of the rebel bases I'm going to take the Phantom to investigate and I need to to stay here with your sister okay?" She started to turn away. "Wait now?" Kai asked suddenly. Hera put out her hands on each of his shoulders "yes, look I won't be gone long, just go to bed now and by the time you wake up I'll be home okay?"
"Okay Mum," Kai replied reluctantly. Hera thanked him and kissed his forehead as she turned and ran to get aboard the Phantom. Kai was given a lot of responsibility considering his age, he had only just become and teenager and was being treated like an adult. But he didn't mind, he liked to be someone who could help out and be trusted by the adults around him. Kai took his book and went back in his room to bed.
