"How was class?" Ryan asked me. We were sitting on his bed eating Chinese food. His roommate's side of the room was still empty. Ryan's side on the other hand looked exactly how it did back at home. I don't know how he managed to get that to happen but he did.
"Class was great. I was the first to sing." I answered.
"Dana," he begins with a mouth full of food. "You always sing first. Give someone else a chance."
"Relax. I was called randomly."
"So were you good?" Ryan was now picking away at my food.
"Yeah. In fact, my teacher said I'm the best in the class right now." I tried not to smile. I kind of figured that would be the case anyways. No, I'm not conceited, I just have really strong vocal chords. Really high ones too.
"Cool."
"But what about you? How was your class?" I asked. I picked around my food a bit before giving it up to Ryan. He obviously was hungrier than I was.
"It was kind of boring. We didn't even get to show off our beats. All we did was talk about what we'd be learning this semester." he shook his head, finishing off my food.
Before I could begin a new topic, I glanced at my phone. "Shit. It's already 8:50. I gotta be out of here in ten."
Ryan frowned. "But why?"
I get up and stretch. "Rules Ryan, rules."
He shrugs. "Fine. See you tomorrow I guess?"
"Of course."
I leave his room, heading for the elevator. When it opens, Mark is too busy on his phone he doesn't see me coming. I tried stepping aside but I was too late, he comes crashing into me.
"Seriously?" I sighed. "You gotta stop doing that."
"It's not my fault." he shakes his bangs out of his eyes.
"Technically it is this time. You were on your phone."
Mark smirked. "Fine."
I stepped onto the elevator and pushed the button to the first floor. As the doors are closing, a hand reached out and stopped them. I'm greeted by Mark's face again.
"Dana right?" he asked.
I nod. "Right."
"If your schedule is free after class tomorrow wanna hangout or something?"
I literally just got here and I'm already being asked out by a guy. Pointers for me.
"Sure." I shrugged. "Tomorrow. After class." I push the button to the first floor again and this time, Mark doesn't stop them.
I'm back in my room but Beverly's not here. She must be out with her friends still. She hadn't been here since I came back from class to start decorating. I sit on my bed and grab my schedule. Tomorrow I have my vocal class, a hour half English class and forty-five minutes of math. The rest of my day is free. I kind of thought college would be hard but seeing for myself, it's actually pretty easy. Better than high school I must say. I stand from my bed and tie my hair into a high sloppy bun. Pulling off my top I'm only in a hot pink bra and jean shorts. I grab shampoo and body wash from my night stand and get ready to take a shower. Oh yeah, that's another thing I hate about college and dorm rooms. You have to share a bathroom with different girls who aren't your roommates. As I'm leaving the room, Beverly comes in with another girl, probably a friend or something.
"Oh hey." She smiled. She looked down at my chest for a quick second, then back into my eyes. "This is Lisa, my friend. Lisa this is my roommate Dana."
