"I don't like this Bieber kid." I told Mark. I was in his room sitting on his bed. It's been a week since the guy got here and everyone was loving him. Two people that I was mentoring had already asked to leave my group and go to his. Lucky them, Mrs. Wagner let it happen. So now, I was only mentoring Mark and Eliza.
"He's not that bad Dana." Mark insisted.
"Actually he is. He stole two members from my group."
"That's because Wagner needed him to be a mentor too."
"Whatever." I mumbled.
Mark smiled.
I didn't smile back. No, I'm not jealous of Bieber I just was a little aggravated I guess. On top of that, Ryan and I haven't had consistent conversations. He texted me twice this week and our conversations were short. I really want to meet his roommate.
"You're still the best Dana." Mark placed his hand on my bare thigh. The warmness of his palm sends chills through my body.
"Well that was before the new guy came. Now everyone thinks I'm invisible." I rolled my eyes.
Mark leaned in and looked in my eyes. "I don't think your invisible."
I looked back into his as the room grew silent. Tension sat between us for at least five seconds. He leans in a little more and shuts his eyes slowly. Just as our lips are about to touch, someone busts through the door. It's him roommate Juan.
He pauses. "We're you guys about to--"
"No." Mark answered quickly. He removed his hand from my lap and backed up.
"Are you sure? Because I could've sworn you guys were about to kiss." Juan smirked.
"We weren't." Mark shook his head.
It's kind of cute how scared he is. Or embarrassed. I'm pretty sure he's scared because why would he be embarrassed to kiss me?
"I'll leave if you were." Juan is combing his hair, still smirking at us.
"No." I finally answered. "I was just getting ready to leave for class anyways." I rose from Mark's bed. "Just text me later."
"I will."
I leave his room and head down the hall. As I'm about to get on the elevator I see Ryan. He smiles at me, showing those dimples that I haven't seen in days.
"Hey Dana." as he leaned in to hug me, I backed up. Confusion washed over him. "What's wrong?"
"You know what's wrong." I frowned. Ryan wasn't going to isolate hisself from me for a week and then try to act as if nothing ever happened. Best friends don't do stuff like that. Well at least not us.
He sighed. "I've been busy Dana. Isn't that why we are in school? To be busy?"
"Busy with work not our roommates."
"Is that what you're mad about?" Ryan chuckled.
Did he actually think this was funny? Did he understand that if I didn't have Mark I would be completely lonely? And don't bring up Beverly because she's never around. She's always hanging around Lisa. Like real best friends do.
"Bro, I haven't only been hanging out with my roommate. I've been busy as well. Besides, I've been around you for so many years I forgot what it felt like to have fun with guys and do guy things." Did he actually just say that? Ryan felt this way for a long time I bet and just now had to balls to tell me something like that. I could slap him.
"If you wanted to stop being friends all you had to do was speak up." I felt a lump forming in my throat.
"Dana I never said that. I just said I want to be around guys more."
