"Is this her?" the black haired girl was now standing beside Justin smiling at me with perfect teeth. I couldn't lie, she was pretty. Her skin was flawless, or maybe it was her make up. Either way it looked nice. "Are you Dana?"
"Why?" I snap. Although she was very attractive and she seemed nice, she was still with my boyfriend and I didn't like that at all.
"Justin was telling me about you." she giggles.
"Why?" What could he possibly be telling a girl that I didn't know, about me? How I treated him the last time we talked? How I told him I never wanted to see him again and it was okay for them to hangout?
The girl's expression changes and now she looked puzzled. "Uh, I don't know. I guess he just needed someone to talk to... because you wouldn't."
"Irene." Justin finally says. "I think you should go."
The girl, Irene, sighs and leaves without saying anything.
I'm just standing there with my arms crossed. There is nothing that I could or wanted to say to Justin. I must look like a fool standing here. Did I actually think I could come all the way over here and things would be back to normal so fast?
"Can we talk?" Justin says.
"About what exactly?" I shot. "About how a girl just walked out of your room calling you babe?"
"No, about us."
"I don't want to talk about us Justin. I want to talk about her." I point at the door.
"She's not important."
"So why was she here?"
"She's... she's just a friend."
I don't know why Justin thinks I'm stupid. She was not a friend. Friends don't call each other babe.
He sighs. "Okay, look. I was lonely."
I squint, extremely taken aback. "Well be lonely some more." I move toward the closet where Pattie had put away my coat and suitcase, grab my things, and proceed to leave. I can't believe I actually came all the way over here for no reason. I was beyond pissed. As I'm about to the swing the door open Justin gently grabs my arm.
"Dana don't leave. We really need to talk."
"I'd rather not. I just really need to leave."
"Look. Let's not forget that you were the one who said you never wanted to speak to me." he shot. "So why do you give a shit who about a girl I hang out with? You don't care about me, right?"
"Justin if I didn't care about you would I even be here? I wanted to fix this but I wasn't expecting a girl to be here. Its only been a week!"
He stand there looking uncomfortable and irritated. His eyes wandered and looked everywhere except mine.
"Do I still mean anything to you?" I say quietly while stepping in the direction where he was looking.
His eyes finally met mine and he sighed. "Of course you do. You mean a lot to me but--"
"But what?" I start to get louder. "There shouldn't be a but! You asked me to be your girlfriend. Not her."
Justin shakes his head and scoffs. "And you know what? I'm starting to regret that."
I felt my heart drop for the third time today. How could he even say that? Without another word I open the front door and step into the cold. I tried to fight my tears as I slip into my coat but I couldn't this time. They just flow down my cheeks. As I'm about to walk down the steps I pause, coming to a realization. I knock on Justin's door.
