*Beep beep beep*

Mark slowly opened his eyes and turned off his noisy alarm. He turned on his side and looked at the time on the clock. 6:00AM. Mark groaned and sluggishly sat up and ran his fingers through his hair. He sighed and slowly got out of bed and stretched. "Time for another shitty day of school" he thought to himself whilst getting dressed. He quietly headed downstairs and ate some cereal and started heading out the door. Before he left he got reminded of something though. He ran back up the stairs, loudly this time, and grabbed his knife from his room. He stuck it in his pocket and ran back downstairs and headed out the door towards school. Mark always brought a knife to school just in case something went wrong. His parents didn't know about him keeping a knife, considering he had never gotten caught with it before, and he never will. He only had to use it once, and that was in 7th grade when some 8th graders were picking on him towards the back of the school. They were calling him names and beating him up. Mark had almost just accepted his fate until he remembered his knife. He took it out of his pocket and held it two inches away from the main kid's face. He backed away slowly and Mark threatened to stab them if they didn't leave him alone. They ran away as fast as they could and Mark never saw those kids ever again. Luckily he didn't have to kill anyone, but if he ever had to, he wouldn't hesitate.

Mark silently walked to school and put his stuff in his locker, not talking to anyone. No one wanted to talk to him anyway. Every kid in school knew Mark was the "troublemaker" because he would always ditch his classes and spray paint stuff on the back of the walls after school. And they knew that if they ever told on him, he would make them pay. No one except his two closest friends knew about the knife, and Mark wanted it to stay that way. Mark looked at his schedule and saw that his first period room was past the gigantic crowd. He started walking towards it, and once the kids noticed he was there, they immediately moved out of his way. Nobody wanted to fuck with him. He got through the crowd and started heading to his first period room, Room 1001. But before he could make it to the room, he heard the bell ring. He knew he was late, but he didn't care. He had been late so many times before that the teachers didn't even bother to write him up.

He sat down in his seat in the back and went on his phone. He completely tuned out everyone in the room, especially the teacher. But something she said seemed to catch his attention. "Welp! First things first! Class, we have a new student. His name is Sean Mcloughlin." Mark was surprised that they had gotten a new student, considering no one ever dared to sign up for this school. It was probably the most ghetto school in L.A. Mark felt bad for Sean considering he had to suffer the same education as him. God he hated this damn school. Mark, still looking at his phone, decided to tune in more of the conversation. "Hi, I'm Sean. You can just call me Jack, though" Mark heard him say. "I guess I should call him Jack then" he thought to himself. He looked up from his phone and saw Jack looking at him, and he gave him a small smile. As soon as he did that, Jack started blushing and turned back around. Mark chuckled a little and looked back down at his phone. "Heh, he's kinda cute" he mumbled to himself whilst ignoring the whole class and just staying on his phone.

Mark spent the whole period just looking at his phone and ignoring everyone. He heard the bell ring and he saw Jack get out of the class immediately. Mark felt bad for Jack, considering when he went to introduce himself everyone was glaring at him judgingly, so he could understand why he wanted to leave the class in a hurry. Mark got up from his seat and went over to his next period. Throughout the whole day Mark didn't see Jack once. He didn't have any classes with him, so he couldn't really talk to him. At lunch he sat with his friends Bob and Wade, and he told them about Jack.

"Oh yeah I know him" Wade said. "You do?" Mark asked curiously. "Yeah I have him in my math class. Can't really talk to him though. He's in the front and I'm in the back." Mark sighed and took out his knife and started waving it around carelessly. "Hey, be careful with that thing. I don't want you to accidentally stab me" Bob said worriedly. "Sorry, I just really miss him" Mark said while sticking his knife back in his pocket. "Dude, you've only been away from him for a couple hours. What's the big deal?" Wade asked him. "I just really like him okay? He's really cute and he just seems like a really nice guy" Mark said putting his head down, a slight blush appearing on his face. "Dude, don't worry" Bob said reassuringly whilst patting his back. "I'm sure you'll eventually get to talk to him. And if you don't, you've got us." Mark gave them both a small smile and sat back up. "Thanks guys, but I don't think I'll be wanting to date Wade anytime soon" he said jokingly. "Hey!" Wade yelled as Mark and Bob both shared a laugh.

Mark went throughout the rest of the day thinking about Jack. He wasn't upset anymore, but the more he thought about Jack, the more he wanted to see him. At the end of the school day though, when he was getting his stuff from his locker, he saw Jack on the other side of the hallway at his own locker. Mark smiled slightly at the fact that their lockers were so close together. He took a deep breath and started walking over to him, a small smile still on his face. And as soon as he was about to tap Jack's shoulder, Jack turned around and an expression of shock spread over his face, and he started blushing red hot. And the only thing that Mark's mind could comprehend was, "god he's even cuter up close."
