Mark's Perspective:
Mark went to school the next day excited to see Jack. However, as he was walking to his first period, someone stopped him. It was a kid he had never recognized before, so he figured they were new to the school. They kept their head down though, so he couldn't see their face. He couldn't even tell if they were a girl or a boy. "C-can I help you?" Mark asked in confusion. "Yes, actually, you can" the kid replied. Mark was a little nervous of what this kid wanted, and he knew he wouldn't be able to beat them, considering it looked like they had about the same amount of strength as him. "Okay, so what do you want?" Mark asked. Once he asked that, the kid raised their head, and Mark suddenly realised who it was. It was his old friend Aaron from his other school in Cincinnati. The reason Mark calls him his old friend is because he used to be friends with him until Aaron started hanging out with criminals and doing drugs, so Mark was happy to leave him when he moved to L.A, but he never thought he'd see him again. "A-Aaron?" Mark asked, stuttering a bit. "Hey Mark, how's it goin old friend?" Aaron asked with a sinister grin on his face. Looks like Aaron considered Mark to be an old friend as well. "U-uh, i-it's going good, I-I guess" Mark replied, stuttering much more now. Mark was afraid of what Aaron was going to do to him, so he tried to walk away, but Aaron just pushed him up against the lockers. Aaron laughed and said, "Buddy, your not going anywhere until we talk" still with that sinister grin on his face. Mark gulped. "Okay, so, what do you want to talk about?" Mark asked, no longer stuttering. "Well, long story short, I'm working with David now" Aaron said, which made Mark furious. David and his group were the same ones that beat up Jack. Mark didn't see Aaron in the group though obviously, so that means he must have moved more recently. Mark didn't let his anger get the best of him though. "Okay, so what?" Mark asked with an attitude. "So that means I know all about the incident with them you and Jack" Mark froze. Great, now not only does he work with David, but he also knows about the incident between the five of us. "O-okay? S-so what?" Mark repeated, trying to sound normal like when he said it the first time, but with all the stuttering he did it was pretty obvious that he was nervous. Aaron didn't care though. "So, that also means I know about your little "friendship" with Jack" Mark gulped. "O-okay, s-so what did David t-tell you to do exactly?" Mark asked, still nervous of what was going to happen. "Well, he basically told me to get rid of your friendship. Well, sort of. He wanted me to convince you to do it" Aaron said. And that's when Mark snapped. "What?! No way! You are NOT gonna make me end my friendship with him!" Mark yelled. Aaron just laughed. "Okay. That's fine. I guess I'll just have to tell the entire school about your little secret then" Aaron said with a grin. Mark got nervous again. The secret that Aaron was talking about was the fact that he's gay. And, ironically enough, the only person he's told about his sexuality was Aaron. "D-did you tell anyone yet?" Mark asked, worried if he had told David and his gang. "Nope, haven't told a single soul" Aaron answered. "Well then, what did David say when he told you to end my and Jack's friendship?" Mark asked, confused as to how Aaron didn't end up telling David. "Simple. All he said was, "I don't know how your going to do it, but just find a way to end Mark and Jack's friendship", and that was all" Aaron told him. Mark let out a sigh of relief, knowing now that Aaron didn't tell David or anyone else. But now he's got to worry about what Aaron is gonna make him do. "Okay, fine, I'll do what you want, just please don't tell anyone" Mark said. Aaron laughed before saying, "Glad to hear that Mark. Now here's what I want you to do." Aaron got up closer to Mark and whispered in his ear, "I want you to pull a stunt in class that will get both you and Jack in trouble. I don't care what it is, just do it either today or tomorrow, because if not, your going to pay" he finished. Aaron backed up and said, "Got it?" Mark gulped and nodded. Aaron smiled and said, "Good, then I'll be off now" before walking off to his own first period.
Mark gulped and walked inside his own first period, sitting next to Jack, who was already in his seat. "Hey Mark!" Jack whisper yelled excitedly. "H-hey..." Mark responded quietly. Immediately Jack's smiled turned into a frown. "Hey, what's wrong?" Jack asked concernedly. Mark wanted to tell Jack about Aaron, but he didn't want to risk Aaron finding out and telling the whole school his secret. So, Mark just shook his head and said he was fine. Jack was about to push him further until the bell rang. Mark sighed out of relief for not having to tell Jack about Aaron. But it was also a sigh of disappointment in himself for what he was about to do. He had already thought of the plan, now he just has to go through with it. Even though he didn't want to. He already knew ahead of time that the class would be doing an experiment with chemicals, because the teacher had already told everyone to study their knowledge of different ones, so that way no one would mess up the experiment by putting the wrong ones into the batches. And, of course, he didn't study. Hopefully Jack did though, so that way Mark can just ask him about the different chemicals. Once the teacher had called attendance, she told everyone to get into groups of two, and to go grab the materials for the experiment. Suddenly Mark felt a tap on his shoulder. It was Jack. "Wanna be partners?" he asked, his baby blue eyes shining like stars. "Uh, yeah, sure!" Mark said, trying to sound enthusiastic. "Cool! I'll go get the materials!" Jack said before walking off. "O-okay" Mark responded quietly. Mark took a deep breath to calm down, but the thought of getting Jack in trouble and making him hate him still lingered in his mind. If he didn't do this though, Aaron could easily tell the school his secret. But, why? Why does Aaron want him to do this? More importantly, why did David send Aaron to tell him instead of telling Mark himself? Mark got so lost in his thoughts that he didn't even realise that Jack had returned with the materials until he waved his hand in front of Mark's face. "Uh, s-sorry" Mark said, worried that he annoyed Jack. "It's okay dude. I sometimes get lost in my own thoughts too, haha" he reassured Mark. Hearing his beautiful laugh made him light up and almost forget what he needed to do. But he soon snapped back into reality when the teacher gived the students directions on what to do for the experiment. Apparently they had to mix Chlorine and Copper together. Mark had no idea what for, but he had the idea to mix another chemical they had with the Chlorine. He didn't know which one to pick though. So, he asked Jack. "Hey, Jack, which chemical is that? I forgot" he lied, pointing to a red chemical. "Oh, that's just Neon" Jack told him, and Mark nodded. Once the teacher told everyone to put 5 cups of the chlorine into the beaker, while Jack was doing so, Mark snuck behind Jack and poured the Neon into the cup that the Copper was supposed to go in. He set the cup down, and looked around, making sure no one saw him. Luckily, no one did. Mark walked back over to Jack's side and waited for the teacher's next instructions. Then, once she told everyone to add in one cup of Copper, Mark grabbed the cup of Neon he had, and brought it over to the beaker. Since he knew Jack knew what it looked like, he tried his best to cover up the sight of the chemical with his hand. Jack looked over at Mark, then at the cup. "Oh, you already got it, cool" he said before looking at the beaker. Mark exhaled deeply, glad that Jack didn't see that the chemical was actually the Neon. Mark gulped and thought to himself, "it's now, or never" before pouring the cup of Neon into the beaker. Suddenly, the liquid started bubbling, and Jack looked at it confused. "Wait, why is it bubbling?" Jack asked before looking at everyone else's beakers, who's liquids were not boiling. Then, Jack looked at their beaker once more, noticing that there was a red liquid instead of a brown liquid in there. Jack asked him, "Wait, Mark, did you put Neon in the bea-" but got cut off by an explosion in their beaker. The explosion wasn't big enough to hurt anyone, but it was big enough to break the beaker, get the liquid everywhere, and cause a huge cloud of smog. And to get the teacher pissed off. "Fischbach! Mcloughlin!" the teacher shouted angrily. Mark was worried and scared, but he tried to hide his expressions. Suddenly, Jack spoke up. "Wait, it wasn't my fault! Mark was the one that poured the Neon in there!" Jack defended himself. But the teacher counter argued. "I don't care! You should've paid more attention when he went to go pour it in there! And as for you Mark," the teacher started, now throwing all her anger at him, "I don't know what you were thinking when you pour the Neon in there instead of the Copper! You should have known that those two mixed together like that would have caused this!" the teacher finished, blowing off the rest of her steam. Mark felt guilty, but again, be couldn't show it. The teacher sighed and said, "both of you to the dean's office right this instant." And both Mark and Jack left the classroom and started heading to the dean's office.
