Jack's Perspective:
Jack went out through the entire day thinking about calling Mark. He could barely even sit still in his seat most of the time. Even during lunch he ate his food quicker, thinking that doing that would make the day quicker. Once the day was over though he went to his locker, got his stuff, and rushed out the door towards home.
Once he got home he immediately went up to his room and shut the door so he could call Mark in silence. He of course said hi to his mom first though before he shut himself in. Jack sat on his bed and opened up his contacts, adding Mark's number in and saving it. Jack was about to call Mark, but he stopped himself before he did. "What if he's not home yet?" Jack thought to himself. That was probably likely considering Jack literally rushed home. Plus Jack didn't know if Mark walked or if he got picked up every day after school. So, Jack decided to not call Mark yet. Instead he would try to pass the time by getting his homework done.
About half an hour had passed and Jack had just finished up his homework. He decided now was a good time to call Mark, so he picked up his phone, sat on his bed again, and opened up his contacts to call Mark.
Ring, Ring...
Ring, Ring...
Ring, Ring...Click.
About three rings had gone by before someone finally picked up. Suddenly Jack heard a voice through the phone. "Hello?" it said. Jack smiled once he knew it was Mark who had picked up the phone instead of one of his parents or something. "Hi Mark!" Jack said enthusiastically, eager to talk to Mark. "Oh, hey Jack" Mark said happily. "So, what're you doing right now?" Jack asked him, curious as to what took him so long to answer. "Eh, nothing much. I was just on my phone doing random stuff." Mark replied. Suddenly Jack got confused. Why did it take him so long to answer if he was already on his phone? "If you were already on your phone, then how come it took you so long to answer?" Jack asked. "I was just a little hesitant on answering it I guess, since I didn't know it was you" Mark said. "Oh okay, that makes sense" Jack replied, now understanding why he didn't pick up. Suddenly Mark spoke up. "Yeah, I was a little hesitant on picking up cause the last time I answered a random number it was like, this gay rapist that had called me or something" Mark told him. "Ewwww..." Jack replied, now disgusted. "Heh, sorry, you didn't need to know that" Mark said, apologizing for what he had told Jack. "Eh, it's alright, I'm already over it" Jack reassured him, chuckling a little bit afterwards. "Oh, alright, haha" Mark said, laughing slightly. Jack wanted to say something else, but he didn't know what to talk about. Plus he hated small talk. And it didn't help that he didn't know anything about Mark yet. Thankfully though, Mark broke the silence by saying something. "Hey, I was just wondering, after school on Friday do you maybe wanna hang out?" Mark asked him. Once Mark said that, Jack grinned from ear to ear. "Yeah that would be great! Let me ask my mom first though" Jack told Mark before leaving his room, leaving his phone on the bed.
Jack walked out of his room, closing the door behind him, and searched for his mom. He looked around for a bit, and he saw that she was sitting on the couch. He went over to her to ask if him and Mark could hang out. "Hey mom" Jack greeted her. "Oh, hey honey, you doing okay?" she asked him. "Yeah, I'm alright. Hey, can Mark and I hang out on Friday after school?" he asked her, hoping that she would say yes. "Oh, yeah that's fine. So you and Mark are friends now?" she asked him, and he smiled softly. "Yeah, I guess so" he replied, trying to not make it obvious that he had a crush on Mark. If his parents found out about that then he doesn't know what he would do. Things would probably be really awkward though. Or worse. "Okay, well, you can hang out with him, and I'm gonna allow you to go out somewhere, but just be home before dinner okay?" she told him. Jack nodded and went back to his room, eager to tell Mark that she had said yes.
Jack entered his room and sat on his bed by his phone. "Hey,you still there?" Jack asked, hoping that Mark was still on the phone. "Yeah, I'm still here" Mark answered, which made Jack grin widely. "Okay good, So I asked my mom if we can hang out, and she said yes!" Jack told him excitedly. "Oh cool! Wait, should I go ask my parents too?" Mark asked him. Jack said he should and Mark said he'll be right back. Jack said okay and waited for Mark to get back. Once he did he said that his parents said it was okay, and Jack got super excited. "Yes! Okay, so do you wanna hang out like, immediately after school or...?" Jack asked him, unsure of what he wanted to do. "Yeah, right after school is fine. Where do you wanna meet?" Mark asked him. "I dunno. Just by the bike racks I guess" Jack told him, just picking a random place at the school. "Okay, that's fine. Where do you wanna go?" Mark asked him. "Why are you making me pick everything?" Jack asked jokingly. "I just wanna do what you want, so that's why I'm asking you everything instead of, you know, me asking you everything. Hehe" Mark told him, chuckling at the end of his sentence. "Oh, okay" Jack said, laughing a little bit while speaking. Jack started thinking of places to go, and he thought that the park would be a good place, since it's nice and quiet. "Okay, so, how about the park?" he asked Mark. "The park?" Mark asked him curiously. "Yeah. It's a nice and quiet place so it would be good for us to go there" Jack said, hoping that Mark would agree. "Oh okay. Alright, let's go to the park then" Mark said, making Jack super excited. "Alright cool. I've gotta be home before dinner though so I gotta leave at around 5:30" Jack informed him. "Oh okay that's fine. That still gives us plenty of time to hang out considering we get out at 1:30" Mark said, and Jack agreed. "Okay, so just to be clear," Jack started, "Immediately after school on Friday, by the bike racks, were going to the park, and I've gotta be home around 5:30. Got all that?" he asked Mark, making sure it was all clear to him. "Yup, everything's clear" Mark said gladly. "Alright good. So I guess I'll see you tomorrow then?" Jack asked, expecting the call to end there, since they didn't really have anything else to talk about. "Yup. We'll see each other tomorrow in first period." Mark informed him. "Right, right. So, um, bye I guess. Hehe" Jack said, laughing at how stupid and awkward he sounded. "Alright, bye" Mark said, laughing while talking and then ending the call shortly after he finished his sentence. After the call ended Jack started jumping up and down all around his room. He was super excited for Friday, and he could not wait to see Mark tomorrow. Once Jack was calm though he went back to doing his own thing.
Once it was 10:00 it was time for bed so Jack quickly got into his pajamas, brushed his teeth, said goodnight to his parents, and went straight up to bed and to sleep. Jack was so excited for Friday that he could barely fall asleep. He had to force himself to sleep though. He still had one more day to go through before it was Friday. So, Jack took a deep breath to calm himself down, closed his eyes, and went to sleep.
