Mark's Perspective:
The next day, Mark stayed in his room the whole time, only going out to use the bathroom. He hated himself for almost telling Jack his feelings. He knew he wasn't ready and yet he did it anyway. Not only that, but it was horrible timing, considering Jack's phone rang and he had to go when Mark was in the process of telling him. Mark was lying on his bed contemplating why he decided to tell Jack how he felt. "Was it just a spur of the moment kind of thing, or was I really ready to tell him?" Mark thought to himself. He sighed and looked at his phone. The time read 11:49. It was almost midnight and Mark was tired, so he decided to go to bed. He didn't even get into his pajamas before he did though, he just went straight to sleep.
*The Next Day*
The next day was Monday, so it was just a normal school day. Mark got up at 6:00, the usual time he woke up. He did his daily routine and headed out the door. But this time, he forgot his knife.
When he arrived at the school, he was feeling fine until he got near his first period class. He didn't understand why, but he suddenly got this chill up his spine. When he reached the door, he didn't go into the classroom just yet. Instead he just leaned against the wall by the door. Once his back hit the wall, however, he got flashbacks as to why he was feeling weird. He suddenly remembered that this was the area where Jack got beaten up by David and his gang. Once Mark remembered, he got a sick feeling in his stomach. He didn't want to feel like this anymore, so he went into the classroom. He didn't want to go into the classroom in the first place because he was super early and he didn't want people looking at him weird because he's usually late, but he had no choice but to go in. So he sucked it up and sat in his seat. And of course, the teacher was surprised that Mark was early, so she interacted with him. "Mark, your early. That's surprising." she said to him. All Mark did was groan and sit in his seat. The teacher rolled her eyes and sat silently waiting for the day to start.
5 minutes passed and almost the entire class had come in. Mark was on his phone so he didn't even realize Jack come in. Jack sat down and tried to get Mark's attention, but Mark was spaced out in his phone, so Jack had to wave his hand in front of Mark's face. Once Mark realized Jack was there, he was surprised and embarrassed at the same time. "Hey, you okay? You were spaced out for a while." Jack asked him concerned. Mark blushed out of embarrassment and nodded his head quickly. Luckily, Jack was oblivious to Mark's embarrassment, so he just smiled innocently and looked around the classroom. Mark let out a sigh of relief, and went back to looking at his phone. This time however, he didn't space out. Or at least, he didn't try to. About 30 seconds passed before Jack spoke up again. "Oh, by the way Mark, what were you gonna say at the park on Saturday?" Jack asked him, which made Mark's anxiety kick in. "Crap, what do I do?! I don't wanna tell him the truth but I don't wanna lie to him!" Mark thought to himself. He thought about it for a little bit, and he decided to lie to him. He really didn't want to, but he didn't wanna make things awkward by telling him the truth. Plus, he doesn't even know if Jack likes him in the same way. Mark gulped and was about to speak up, but then the bell rang, and the teacher told everyone to settle down. Mark let out another sigh of relief and mumbled to himself quietly, "Saved by the bell." Jack nudged him and whispered, chuckling slightly, "I'll ask again after class I guess." Mark nodded and paid attention to the class for once.
Once the class had ended, Jack confronted Mark again, as he had expected. Luckily though, Mark had gotten over the fact that he had to lie to Jack. He had also had time in class to think about what the lie was going to be, so when Jack asked him the question again, Mark simply said that he was going to say that he had a really good time with Jack at the park. However, it wasn't that easy to fool him. Jack snorted and said, "C'mon Mark, you seriously can't be THAT bad at lying. Just tell me the truth." And this is when Mark started to freak out. He didn't have another lie in store, and he couldn't tell Jack the truth, so he was stuck again. But luckily, before Jack noticed how strange Mark was acting, Mark got pulled away by Bob and Wade in the hall.
