Jack's Perspective:

Jack went to school the next day thinking about what he was going to say to Mark if he ever bumped into him. Hopefully that'll never happen, cause he didn't want to tell him the truth about his mom telling him to stay away from Mark. Jack knew that would break Mark's heart, so he tried to stay as far away as possible from him. Jack sighed and continued walking to his first period. He was almost to class when someone called out to him. He looked to his side to see three boys sitting on the ground by the railing. One of them had dark brown hair and had a scar on his cheek. Another one was wearing glasses that had cracks on both lenses, and his blonde hair was, a mess, and he had a cut on his forehead that was scabbed over. The last one was a redhead, and he was wearing a black and white plaid shirt that had rips and holes all over it, and his jeans were also stained with something all over them. The boy with the scar on his cheek got up, and the other two shortly followed. Of course, they started pointing out his green hair, making fun of it and saying he looked like a leprechaun with it. The insults didn't bother him, so he just ignored them and walked away. But, instead of letting him go so easily, the boy with the scar grabbed his shoulders and pushed him against the wall, causing the sharp edges of the bricks to pierce into his back. The boys started yelling at him, telling him not to ignore them. He tried to escape the boys grip, but nothing helped. His struggling only made the boys more annoyed. So, to get him to stop, they started beating him. The scar boy punched him in the stomach, which caused him to fall to the floor, and the other two boys started kicking him, still throwing insults at him. They kicked him a lot in the stomach and legs, but they mostly kicked him in his face, almost causing his glasses to break. The kicks also made him all bloody and bruised. Jack begged for them to stop, tears streaming down his face, but they just ignored him and laughed. Jack thought he was done for, until someone got the boys' attention. Jack didn't know who it was, considering his eyes were still misty from the tears. All he knew though, was that the boys had ran away. Once Jack opened his eyes, he could finally see that the figure standing there was Mark. Jack would've normally been relieved to see him, but his thoughts got the better of him, and he soon became terrified of Mark, thinking he was going to hurt him. Jack scooted up against the wall, trying to get away from Mark as much as possible. He was so scared of Mark that he didn't even realise the edges of the bricks were going into his back even more. Soon after that, Mark leant down and held out his hand, telling Jack that it's okay and that he's not gonna hurt him. Jack's thoughts got the best of him though, so instead of taking Mark's hand, he got up and ran out of the school, tears still streaming down his face. He heard distant yelling, but he couldn't understand it, so he just ignored it and kept running.

Jack ran all the way home crying, blood still dripping from his wounds. He ran into the house and shut the door behind him. He ran to his room and slammed the door shut, plopping down on his bed. He started crying into his pillow, until he heard a knock on the door. "Honey?" he heard from the other side. Crud. It was his mom. Jack had forgotten that it was his dad's turn to work today. His parent's work schedule consisted of his mom working on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and his dad working on Tuesdays and Thursdays. And today was Tuesday. He didn't want his mom to see him like this, but he had no choice but to let her in. He didn't want to get in trouble for ignoring her. "C-come in" he said quietly, but loud enough to where his mom could hear him. His mom opened the door slowly, only peeking in, but once she saw him, she immediately swung the door completely open and ran to his side. "Oh my god Jack what happened to you?!" his mom said with concern and worry in her voice. "W-well," Jack said before he got cut off by his mom. "Hold that thought. I'll go get some medical supplies from the health kit" she said before running off. Jack sighed once she had left. He had to tell her what happened, but if he mentioned Mark, she's probably gonna get mad at him, which he didn't want to happen. So he just decided to not mention Mark. He didn't want to lie to his mom, but he had no choice. Well, he did have a choice, but he didn't like that choice. Once his mom came back she fixed up all his wounds and cleaned his face and glasses. Once she was done, she sighed and said, "Now, what happened to you?" Jack gulped and told her what happened, excluding the details about Mark. Instead of saying that Mark helped him, he just said that they just left once they were done. While he was telling his mom this, she had worry all over her face. "Oh, Jack, I'm so sorry that happened. Do you wanna stay home from school today?" she asked him softly, and he nodded in response. "Okay. Now, you just stay in bed and relax, alright?" Jack nodded again. "Alright. I'm gonna call your father to tell him about this. Then I'm gonna call the school and complain. Just rest up honey. I'll make you lunch once I'm done with the phone calls" she said before closing the door, leaving Jack alone in his room. Jack just wanted to lay down and think, so that's what he did. He thought about what he was going to tell Mark if he ever saw him again, he thought about those three boys that had beaten him up, he thought about his mom telling the dean about the-
